Regulations currently keep such scenes in the realm of fantasy, but that could change soon. NASA is creating a new committee that will investigate expanding commercial activities and collaborations in low-Earth orbit and beyond, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine announced Wednesday (Aug. 29).
"We're talking about, potentially — Is it possible for NASA to offset some of its costs by selling the naming rights to its spacecraft, or the naming rights to its rockets?" Bridenstine said during a public meeting of the NASA Advisory Council (NAC) at the agency's Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, California.
"I'll tell you, there is interest in that right now," he added. "The question is, Is it possible? The answer is, I don't know. But we're looking to the committee to give us advice on whether or not it is."
The new regulatory and policy committee will be part of the NAC. It will be chaired by Mike Gold, an attorney who's also Vice President for Regulatory, Policy, and Government Contracts at Colorado-based space-tech company Maxar Technologies.

Put Jeff Sessions’ photo with the caption “Have you seen me?” on the side of a rocket. It may be more effective than on a milk carton.
If they go for the highest bidder, all US spacecraft will proudly display “Fly Emirates”.
Definitely get those Logos out into space. I’m surprised the satellites don’t already have them. We are missing huge interplanetary markets. We could be selling Burger King and Nikes and Claritin to creatures all over the universe.
Maybe we should have a “minimum purchase necessary” attached to alien abductions?
Don’t laugh but in the late 40’s and the 50’s, and even some of the 60’s, cereal boxes had all kinds of “cards” on them which were worth collecting.
If my cards from Hopalong Cassidy foils to “Scoops”, (I have “Gee Whiz/Question Box cards, the red reading plastic pieces and one wrapper), Davey Crockett (my stolen set is now worth about $800), Roy Rogers and gang, possibly “Zorro”, and space shows (Tom Corbett and His Space Cadets), were still in my collection (many were stolen), I would have enough money to send a grandchild to a year of college.
Astronaut cards started coming out in the 1960’s, but there were SciFi and some scientific card sets in the 50’s, including “Space Cards/Target Moon” - Topps 1958; “Space Patrol Trading Cards”, Rice/Wheat Chexes 1950’s and the great 1990 3 part series “Spaceshots” on which I have a good number of astronaut signatures including Moon walkers.
Cards like these can be educational as well as just fun to have so why not put a series or several series on cereal boxes for kids to collect? Little Debby foods put presidential cards on their boxes which were based on the earlier 50’s presidential sets. Again, educational and just fun to have.
There was a set of rockets cards put out by museums and other card companies over the decades that are also very educational and just cool to have to show to young children and grandchildren.
So why not raise some money for NASA while educating your children? God knows they won’t get it in school.
Today I was looking at US space satellite records at the National Archives. Tiros, Vanguard, Explorer, Echo, etc. Our kids know nothing about our early space program so why not put a “Satellite Series” on cereal boxes, crackers/cookie boxes, etc? At least they would learn while they collect.
Companies successfully did that with “Star Wars” cards on everything and they were really great to collect.
Don’t just think outside of the box, think “On the box”. It has worked well in the past, so why not now?
If you want your relative back from the probing, you have to prove x$ sold to that population. Maybe the relatives could get coupons.
Or maybe the coupons go to the ETs! “Greys, special this decade! Free anal probes after every fully punched Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt discount cards!”

Those idea were brought up during the Bush Moon to Mars conferences. So not new, and still never done. Also people who wanted to work in the manned space industry at the time were advised to look to Russia, China, and India for work. That seems to have changed.
