The parade was immediately canceled as trained personnel treated and transported the minor and his parents to a hospital, according to a statement from the town of Windsor. He died shortly afterward.
The child and family are in our hearts right now, Windsor Police Chief Rick Klimek told Denver television station KMGH. Windsor is a small, tight-knit community and we hope to protect the familys privacy as they grieve the loss of their child.
The boy was a participant in a parade float.
The float belonged to a local church, Rice said. The driver stopped when he heard screaming.
Chopper footage over the scene showed authorities walking around a truck that had been pulling a portable billboard that had the logo for Generations Church.

How awful. One minute your family is enjoying a holiday parade, next minute your lives are tragically changed forever.
Sounds like he fell off and was run over.
Had a friend die on a church hay rack ride when I was about 13. He fell off and a tire from the hay rack ran over his head. I wasnt there that night but I still remember him from 45 years ago. He lived right across the street from where my mom still lives.
My wife and I just retired from the Colorado statewide unpaid reserves. We had worked the Windsor festivities and the Labor Day parade for years; this is our first year to miss it.
We are now both choking back the tears. May the Lord watch over this little town and all its wonderful residents, and especially the grieving family.

So sad and what a reminder about how fragile life can be sometimes.
Knowing what little monkey’s kids can be; I bet the kid was crawling around and simply fell off. No problem at the playground but on a moving trailer...
8 yrs old.
RIP
Yup, those things move at 1-3mph. It would bump you and you’d either get run over or step out of the way once it bumps you. Sounds like he fell off and got under the tire.
There was a guy evacuating his family from a hurricane in FL and he ran over his 3 year old son in the yard and killed him.
I’ve got lots of power equipment, power tools etc around here and I back up a truck and trailer in the yard quite often and have two kids so I’ve had some scary thoughts and even visuals to the point where I had to put it out of my mind because it was so disturbing. I can only imagine going through some tragedy with one of my kids. Not sure how or if I could handle it.
