'The Handmaid's Tale' protesters target Kavanaugh

The Handmaid's Tale' protesters target Kavanaugh originally appeared on abcnews.go.com

As Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh took his seat Tuesday before senators ready to scrutinize his stance on abortion, a group of women stood in silent protest outside the judge's confirmation hearing room, dressed in floor-length red gowns and white bonnets to reflect the Dystopian threat of "The Handmaid's Tale."

About 15 women lined the balconies overlooking the entrance to Senate office building. Their costumes, coupled with their silence, were meant to carry an ominous message from Margaret Atwood's novel-turned Hulu miniseries about a world devoid of basic human rights for women. The protest was organized by the liberal advocacy group Demand Justice, which strongly opposes Kavanaugh's confirmation because of his previous decisions on abortion and health care as a U.S. Court of Appeals judge.

"We are fighting Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination because he represents the greatest threat to the right to legal abortion since Roe was decided. Already in America, the right to abortion is under attack, putting access out of reach for far too many women, especially low-income women and women of color. Brett Kavanaugh would take our current reality and make it worse—much worse," Lori Lodes, an advisor with Demand Justice, wrote in a statement to ABC News.

These people are SO STUPID that they are missing the whole point of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’.

That it is a progressive totalitarian regime that controls your whole lives.

Not a democracy that won’t let you have an abortion.

I swear those people are among the stupidest and most immature I have ever seen in my lifetime.

The Handmaiden’s Tale. It is the Via Dolarosa liberal fantasy of reality. Most of those people are unable to distinguish reality from television, which is why they are slavish devotees to the Alphabet Networks.

More evidence the state of mind liberals live in is fantastical and non existent.

“These people are SO STUPID that they are missing the whole point of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’.

Same with The Hunger Games. The uber lib star is playing a conservative patriot hero fighting a dystopian leftist society and doesn’t realize it through three movies.

“Who paid for their outfits?”

I’m sure whoever paid them.

I'm not sure if they're missing the point or not, because I don't know if novel even had a point.

The author of the book, Margaret Atwood, is a full-rabid Trump hater (and America hater), and has encouraged the use of her pseudo-Puritan garb in protests against the symbol of all she hates.

Their "protests" against a "theocracy" always ring hollow as they have NEVER aimed their protests against actual, real life theocracies.

Not one protest in support of women in Third World hellholes run by Islamists.

Not one.

Just the fevered imaginary Republican ones that never, ever emerges ever since the liberal fantasy was published during the Reagan years.

Pure liberal "Boogeyman" that only Hollywood could inspire.

So if one must explain the meaning of the costumes, do the costumes have any real effect?

What these nuts should do is pull aside Linda Sarsour and start protesting her. After all, the Handmaid’s Tale is true—it’s about Islam.

“That it is a progressive totalitarian regime that controls your whole lives.”

They think they are being “controlled” because they can’t have an abortion!!!

Here is when I do my “Aunt Lydia”

“Who’s fault is it that you got pregnant? That’s right, it’s your fault!”

however this one is actually from the book:

“Ordinary, said Aunt Lydia, is what you are used to. This may not seem ordinary to you now, but after a time it will. It will become ordinary.”

I like that you know why? Abortion was NOT “Ordinary” when I was born, it became “Ordinary” after 1973. Well to you young people born after 1973 who survived Roe vs Wade heed Aunt Lydia’s words “Ordinary” is what you are used to, when Roe is over turned it may not seem “ordinary” to you but after time IT DAMN WILL.
