Obesity map reveals more than 35 percent of people in seven US states are dangerously overweigh

Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and West Virginia all have adult obesity rates of at least 35 percent

Prevalence ranged from 22.6 percent in Colorado to 38.1 percent in West Virginia

Middle-age adults between ages 45 and 54 are twice as likely to be obese as young adults between ages 18 and 24

Data came from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, which is a survey conducted via telephone by the CDC and state health departments.

In addition to having the highest obesity prevalence, West Virginia also led the nation in the percentage of adults with diabetes at 15.2.

West Virginia had the nation's highest drug-overdose death rate in 2015 and was named in a Wallethub study as the least happy state in America.

The CDC report revealed the obesity rates increased as level of education decreased.

Adults without a high school degree had an obesity rate of 35.6 percent in comparison to 32.9 percent of adults with a high school degree, 31.9 percent of adults with some college and 22.7 percent of college graduates.

Perhaps people are overweight, but I don’t grant any credibility to most of these weight charts. A guy with a big build might be classed as “obese” when he’s not.

A one-size-fits-all criteria is a scam.

I believe this map is accurate. I see more obesity on a trip to the Middletown Walmart than a week out in Colorado..

“West Virginia had the nation’s highest drug-overdose death rate in 2015 and was named in a Wallethub study as the least happy state in America.”

“Wild, Wonderful, West Virginia” is being replaced by the “Fat Unhappy Junkies of West Virginia.

As many fat people as there are in California, this chart is hard to believe anyway.

Yup. We were in Louisiana a few years ago and were craving a salad after all of the breaded “everything” food. Delicious but we wanted a change.

That was when we learned that “people in Louisiana don't eat to live but live to eat!”

I’m in TN now, but I grew up in Louisiana, and we definitely enjoy food.

The price of food in Europe is staggeringly high.

$13 for a little watermelon in Finland.

$64 for soup and salad in Denmark.

No wonder the Euros are thin.

Another bitchy article from the UK about our “weight” or our “guns”. Yawn.

Damned “central planning socialists”.

It sure is. Way back when I was watching NFL, on one slow game day (which the Steelers won on a field goal and went on to the Stupor Bowl), I decided to calculate the BMI of everyone on the roster.

Result: everyone was "obese" except four-- the QB, two back-up QBs and the kicker.

They were merely classified as overweight. My own BMI was identical to Troy Polumalu, the great defensive lineman.

Apparently eating a lot of Doritos doesn’t put on a lot of weight.

There are an awful lot of chunky, square-built low center of gravity women in Massachusetts. Matter of fact, all of New England is filled with them, the women just seem to metamorphose into that at age 50, then cut their hair short, stop wearing makeup and start sprouting hair on their faces.

So, I disbelieve that particular stat. Unless, that is, their poor long-suffering husbands getting skinny due to stress and having their food snatched away from them isn’t causing a statistical wash. They’re as a group a mean bunch, those chunky plain old women of New England.

You are right about that mate. By these assholes criteria Jim Brown in his prime would be overweight.
