Trump came within a hair of carrying Upstate.
I’m a huge advocate of conservative areas separating from the political hellholes that bring them down. Upstate NY, Inland Cali, my own Illinois outside of 1 county (where I live). The Rest of Illinois vote for Trump, Romney, and W Bush twice.
It don’t see it ever happening without major civil unrest. You can’t ask for freedom, you need to demand it.
Things will have to get pretty bad before decent citizens get ornery enough to take to the streets and stop tolerating big city democrats swine getting to waste their tax dollars.

Even if state politicians, and voters both Upstate and in metro NYC, agreed with splitting up the state, you’d run into a couple of geographic problems. First, it would be very dificult for GOP-leaning Staten Island and Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island to be excluded for a state centered in NYC; perhaps Staten Island can join NJ and Long Island (sans Queens and Brooklyn) can join CT (with which it has a water boundary), but I don’t think that such areas could form part of a State of (Upstate) New York unless all concerned would be willing to have both an “East Pakistan” and a “Kaliningrad” situations.
Second, if we drew state boundaries for Upstate that ran all the way to the southern border of Westchester County, the new state still would be likelier than not to elect Democrats. One would need to excise Westchester as well in order to have a politically marginal state, and Democrats still might win due to voters in Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca and other urban areas.
The only way out of which I can think would be if a new, über-Democrat state was created that combined Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Westchester County with (i) Newark and some other heavily RAT areas in NJ and (ii) the heavily Dem suburbs in SW CT, plus Bridgeport and New Haven, which would leave remaining parts of NY, NJ and CT to form a state in which the GOP would be very competitive (particularly if we can send Hartford and New Britain to a new MA/RI/VT combo state and Camden, NJ to a new state that combines Philly and its RAT suburbs in PA with Wilmington, DE and Baltimore). But that would be far more difficult to pull off.

Part of the reason for their existence was to replace the American labor Party, a Communist-influenced party that wound up endorsing the Comsymp Henry Wallace for president. The Liberal Party did to the ALP what the Working Families Party eventually did to them.
If Nixon campaigns, maybe she can hurt Cuomo. If not, maybe she can manage to kill the WFP, just as Cuomo killed the Liberals. (But they’re still lurking out there.)
And remember, the Greens also have ballot status in New York.

10,000 pro-2nd Amendment citizens in UPSTATE NY took to the streets to protest Cuomo’s so-called “Safe” Act, but folks need to keep up the protesting. I think more people need to contact their local TV media when they show blatant bias.
We can’t always get 10,000 citizens to take to the streets, but we can all take a couple of minutes to make a phone call, or send an email.

State is an extremely difficult thing to do. It would take a very strong, and wealthy, leader to do such a thing, and maybe someday we will have a leader like that.
It’s such a shame that so many fine people in UPSTATE NY have to live this way because of NYC.

True. Activists have stopped NY State from becoming even worse than it is. For instance, pro-lifers have stopped Cuomo’s abortion expansion push which includes allowing nonphysicians to perform abortions, which puts the mother’s life in danger as well as killing the unborn child.
More people need to be active by calling their legislators, the media, writing letters to the editor, etc..

1,000 of us demonstrated at the Capitol, and we did other things aw well, and Cuomo’s abortion expansion was stopped (at least for now and hopefully forever).
What else would you suggest folks do?
Nixon and her running LT running mate have withdrawn as Working Family nominees by accepting nominations to different positions (Nixon for a an Assembly seat in Manhattan that she will not activly seek).
A petulant (he should have been grateful) Cuomo waited a couple days before accepting their nomination.
I can sadly remember when the Right-to-Life Party was no longer a party because they did not receive the 50,000 votes in the gubernatorial race at that time. The same thing could have happened to the Working Families Party.
