UPDATE: Saudino has apologized for the remarks but did not resign

Gov. Phil Murphy said Thursday that Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino should immediately resign if, in fact, he was caught on tape making racist remarks about African-Americans and New Jersey's Sikh attorney general. According to a report from WNYC, which said the station was provided with the recording, Saudino is heard talking to colleagues on the day Murphy was inaugurated.

Saudino, recounting the details of Murphy's Jan. 16 inaugural address, said: "He talked about the whole thing, the marijuana, sanctuary state ... better criminal justice reform. Christ almighty, in other words, let the blacks come in, do whatever the f--k they want, smoke their marijuana, do this do that, and don't worry about it. You know, we'll tie the hands of cops," according to the report.

The former or current party affiliation of this idiot is the least interesting part of the story. He's apparently completely unable to make good judgements in his daily life and that should be enough to disqualify him. The fact that he switched sides to the liberals is only a bonus

The comments on NJ.com are interesting. People saying asking:

1) Isn't marijuana use prominent among African-Americans, and why is Murphy pushing so hard to legalize a mind-alterning drug?

2) Since Murphy keeps bragging about the gender/racial "diversity" of his own cabinet, isn't it obvious he picked a Sikh man for attorney general based on race?

The sheriff's comments were crude, and I would never have made them. But I have little sympathy for Murphy. He is a slime ball. The state is in an financial crisis, and the pension problem will sink NJ very soon unless drastic measures are taken to reform pensions. NJ citizens are taxed to the hilt, and it is breaking the economy.

And what was one of the first things Murphy did when he came in office? Pass even MORE unconstitutional gun laws.

On a related note, Bergen County (just north of me, bordered by NY state to the north and the Hudson River/NYC to the east) recently added Korean to all official business. Now your sample ballots come in English, Spanish, and Korean...

This guy and a group of others have resigned; I wonder how these Dems feel about their party now?

To understand these comments in context, years ago NJ cops were great at intercepting drugs and guns coming up 95 to the NYC metro area. They were told to stand down because they were busting too many blacks, and northeastern NJ quickly saw a spike in drug & gun crimes. Cops report traffic accidents now, little else.
