Senator Grassley

Posted on 09/22/2018 5:46:27 AM PDT by Plain and Simple

I have heard that Mitch McConnell doesn't need the committee's recommendation and he can take the vote directly to the full senate. Is this true?

I believe it’s true, but I don’t think it is going to happen.

They need to do the hearing. We know it’s bull but they still need to do the hearing and Mitch needs to formally announce that the senate will remain in session until the floor vote is taken. No time off for campaigning

Grassley is WEAK!! WHY vote for Republicans if the Democrats are going to run the show anyway?

The Committee could send the nomination to the full Senate without a recommendation in the case of, for example, a Republican Senator voted against the nominee. Read, Flake.

Grassley has to keep all of the puppies in the box. In this case, the wandering puppies are Collins, Corker, Flake, and Murkowski. They need three of the four to confirm Kavanaugh, so Grassley has had to bend over backwards to keep them happy. That’s how things work with the overstuffed egos of the Senate.

Democrats aren’t running the show. Jeff Flake is.

Wait....you’re right. Democrats are running the show.

Yes that’s true. But he has to deal with the delicate natures of Flake, Murkowski, etc.

Grassley and Sessions are really Bert And Ernie. Just puppets for the Democrats.

As some wise person said in another thread earlier this mrning, paraphrased: Given #1. Democrats ALWAYS follow the Democrat Playbook. Given #2. Republicans follow the Democrat Playbook, too. It’s happening right before our eyes.

There’s no need for 60 cloture votes anymore. Harry Reid ditched that.

Exactly right. Grassley is not to blame. Do FReepers want him to force a losing vote?

We, as registered, voting USA taxpayers desperately need Senate term limits. No overstuffed egos with term limits. Very few aging dinosaurs also. Average age of a US Senator is 64*.

Senate need to be conducted by teleconferencing also. Keep those working for us at home more where they belong. Puts a definite crimp in lobbying and other nefarious stuff.

* that list is out of date as it still lists McCain and Reid.

Maybe it’s time to remind these “on the fence” senators where their bread is buttered.

The GOP delved out almost $471 million to the party for campaigning needs in 2018.

http://www.opensecrets.org/overview/

If you divide that by 50, since that is half of the senate, it means the average to each would be a little over $9 million a piece. More than I’ll see in a while.

“”Mitch needs to formally announce that the senate will remain in session until the floor vote is taken. No time off for campaigning””

According to the Senate calendar, there isn’t a break until close to the end of October.
