The number of children waiting more than six months for NHS dental treatment has risen by 52 per cent in three years, new figures show.
Labour said there had been a “completely unacceptable” deterioration in child dental care as it revealed the findings.
The statistics from Freedom of Information requests show that children are waiting an average of two weeks more for operations, compared with 2013.
In the worst performing trust, Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, children waited an average of 253 days for treatment.
Overall, the findings show a 15 per cent increase over three years in the number of children on waiting lists for dental operations undertaken under general anaesthesia.
Last year children in England waited on average 85 days for treatment under general anaesthesia following a referral.

My Canadian daughter-in-law’s parents think their ‘’free’’ health care system is just the bees knees. Funny thing though. A few years back her step-father needed a heart by pass. he was told he’d have to wait six months to get on a waiting list and once on the list he’d ave to wait another full year to get the surgery. They beat down here as fast as heck and got it done in three weeks.
Wonder how well the NHS would work without millions of “refugees” stealing from the system?
My daughter lived in Canada for almost five years in her mid and late 20s. She, too, thought the “free” health care was the best thing ever. Of course, in your 20s, the most you need a doc for is to see about the sniffles and maybe get an antibiotic prescribed. Cancer or cardiac problems? Head to the US (as your relative did).
That didn’t take long. ;-)
It’s great for cheap and easy fixes I suppose, but that’s because the Canadian government is flush with cash through onerous taxation. If anything costs the government too much like a bypass, then it’s delay, delay, delay hoping the problem will go away somehow.

I read some minutes of a meeting of politicians in England about health care. One of the things they spoke about was the length of time it took to do things out in some of the rural counties. I don’t recall the exact times but one guy said something like “A hearing test shouldn’t have a wait of 10 months in Lesterburg, while in London one can be had in 7 weeks.”
A hearing TEST! (And it was months vs. weeks!!!)
