Ford and the rats were sure that her mere allegations would cause Judge Kavanaugh to bail. Now that he's made it clear that he isn't going anywhere, and will vigorously defend himself, the rats are left holding a hot potato that grows ever hotter.

I agree with most of what you posted there, except I don’t believe the Democrats really thought Kavanaugh would bail. In fact, I’m getting a sense that the Democrats knew all along that Ford’s tale was utter B.S. — and were boxed into a corner when they knew the Washington Post would break the story in September and their base would be enraged to find that Feinstein had sat on Ford’s letter since July.
