Spain’s foreign minister revealed that US President Donald Trump suggested building a wall along the Sahara desert to stem the arrival of migrants, as he plans to do on the Mexican border.

“Closing ports is not a solution, and neither is building a wall along the Sahara like President Trump suggested to me recently,” Josep Borrell told a lunchtime gathering this week, according to a video released by Spanish media.

“Just build a wall that borders the Sahara,” he quoted Trump as telling him.

“But do you know how big the Sahara is?” the minister responded.

He did not give any further details.

The reported comments come as EU leaders are locked in talks in Salzburg over how to deal with the number of migrants arriving in Europe. …

Apparently Europeans don’t get sarcasm.

You don’t need a wall. You don’t even need a wall in the States, if the border patrol would be allowed to do its job properly.

Looks like 10 miles would be more than enough.

The problem is that Spain has already done that, and the “migrants” rush the wall and overwhelm the Guardia Civil and any other forces there. The new government - which is not just old style Socialist, but radical leftist - has invited more ¨migrants,¨ almost all of them Muslims, and Spaniards are very upset. But the left and the leftist press rule in Spain, so lots of luck if you’re just an ordinary little Spaniard.

That’s in Morocco IINM. The border fence at Ceuta is a little over five miles in length and the Melilla one is over 6½ miles long. The fences have been reinforced and the height raised, but Morocco not recognizing Spanish sovereignty in Ceuta and Melilla is no help.

Shooting at sight would be the cheapest option.

Spain is not unfamiliar with the modern use of walls. They are very familiar with the Moroccan Western Sahara Wall

You could try sending out your ships to intercept their boats, seize all the money from the captain, sink the boat, and take them back.

"You could try sending out your ships to intercept their boats, seize all the money from the captain, sink the boat, and take them back."

I've been saying from the get go; that any NGO ship transporting the so called refugees to Europe should have the ship impounded for violating human trafficking laws.

actually the problem is a small piece of land in North Africa near Ceuta that Spain owns that is being overrun by refugees from the Sahara.

Dw article: In the Morocco mountains, thousands of African refugees lie in wait for their chance to cross the border fence into Ceuta. The Spanish enclave has become an increasingly popular destination for migrants headed to Europe.

The Spanish guy knows this, but prefers to make fun of Trump, knowing that the left is too lazy to check a map.

Below is a philosophical question for those that wish to comment.

1. Each year hundreds of illegal aliens die in the deserts of the American Southwest when illegally crossing. They die of thirst, exposure and hunger. It is not a nice death.

2. If a minefield were on the border only the insane would try to cross and the deaths from illegal crossing would go to near zero.

Which option is more moral, 1 or 2?
