Especially people like Electrek's Editor-in-Chief Fred Lambert, who's converted 69 people into battery believers and earned himself a free $250,000 next-generation Tesla Roadster.

Which is double good because advertising dollars usually go to corrupt media.

We have a Prius V, not exactly the same, but still, it uses a motive power battery.
He is the worlds biggest grifter. Musk for all his bluster and swinging dick-ism, is no different from any other egomaniacal corporate leader who has come before him. I know this pains his blind loyalists who refuse to accept the fact that St. Elon is a conman.
If that is what you believe, put some cash on the line.
Become a short seller, if you are not already.
If you got a hunch, buy a bunch.
Make a bundle.
A Prius is a different bird than a Tesla so the cost analysis I ran on the Tesla simply does not apply.
You are a whole lot better off with a Prius as it’s only purpose in real life is fuel savings. With a hundred thousand mile range on a Prius and a 4k replacement cost...
How many mpg is your Prius? How many MPG would a non hybrid similar vehicle get. Take the difference and carry it out 100k miles as fuel cost vs battery replacement. My guesstimate comes in with you saving around a third of the battery cost beyond replacement. A win.
But as there is no non hybrid real comparison and fuel price fluctuation being unstable over the long run, who knows?
TESLA’S are much easier. After you add the fuel in kilowatt hours to battery costs, the picture is not good. I spent a good hour calculating on a Tesla thread with good parameters from the thread and it was ugly.
The motive battery in a Tesla is Huge. Your Prius is only good for 35 hp and very limited range. Your primary motive power is a 100hp gas engine. Your Prius battery is only allowed to operate between 80% to 40% charge to extend life.
Tesla, the battery is all you have for motive power at much greater output and it is operated in a much wider charge range I suspect.

My wife selected the Prius after she retired and moved into grandma mode, visiting the grandkids, often.
Looked at the Nissan Leaf, but our son lives just beyond the comfort zone for a round trip.
For a modest daily commute, an EV would work well.
Also when gas prices drop, the price of a Nissan Leaf can drop very low.
