About SCO

The Surgery Center of Oklahoma is a 32,535 square foot, state-of-the-art multispecialty facility in Oklahoma City, owned and operated by approximately 40 of the top surgeons and anesthesiologists in central Oklahoma.

The facility has been accredited by the AAAHC since 1998 without interruption and has annually provided care to thousands of patients.

If you have a high deductible or are part of a self-insured plan at a large company, you owe it to yourself or your business to take a look at our facility and pricing which is listed on this site. If you are considering a trip to a foreign country to have your surgery, you should look here first. Finally, if you have no insurance at all, this facility will provide quality and pricing that we believe are unmatched.

It is no secret to anyone that the pricing of surgical services is at the top of the list of problems in our dysfunctional healthcare system. Bureaucracy at the insurance and hospital levels, cost shifting and the absence of free market principles are among the culprits for what has caused surgical care in the United States to be cost prohibitive. As more and more patients find themselves paying more and more out of pocket, it is clear that something must change. We believe that a very different approach is necessary, one involving transparent and direct pricing.

Transparent, direct, package pricing means the patient knows exactly what the cost of the service will be upfront.

For anyone who needs surgery and does not have insurance, or adequate insurance, this facility operates as a free market health care provider. Costs, even with travel expenses, are far less than other providers.

More important than low cost is the outstanding record they have for safety and results.

I heard one of the founders on a podcast several years ago and was very impressed.

I'm sure you know, but for the uninformed, that's because the Center covers all coats of any complications, not the patient. Which gives them a heck of an incentive not to screw up.

They did my then-college-age daughter’s tonsillectomy about 12 years ago. It was a good experience for all.

The reason more of these don't exist is because physician owned hospitals (probably lots of ‘full-service’ facilities fall under this description) were banned by law during the Obama administration in 2010. Tell me another profession in which the principle providers of the services rendered are prohibited from owning the principle facilities at which these services are rendered?

There are what is called ‘Stand Alone’s’, they are doctors, diagnostics and surgery centers in 1, with hotel nearby connections. If they screw up you can’t get the doctor’s license pulled in Tennessee or sue them. They line patients up like cataract surgeons do, except the quality is lacking. Under staffed, no Anesthetist. 1 Pre/Post OP RN to start IV’s and 1 aide for post care to 30 patients.

New Choice Health is how we found a surgery center for hernia repair. Very good experience. Local hospital quoted 15K, NCH quote was 3K.

Hospitals (especially if they have an ER) are full of sick people and their germs.

Surgery centers are full of generally healthy people getting simple outpatient procedures and repairs done.

You’re welcome. It’s information that I thought many would find useful.

Everything the government touches gets worse, whether it’s education, health care, or anything else. Government makes costs increase and quality and access to decline. Government can’t manage a 2-car funeral.
