Not surprised by this from a leftist like Bezos. Should he have Sharia law imposed on him?

But Amazon hid it. It may not be Nike shoes, it could be fertilizer and diesel fuel.

Could be the Imam wears size 3, but ordered size 10 for....who knows why. More room for shoe bomb? Bragging rights to subjects?

Not sure I want Amazon ( or any other retailor) invited to the Secret Policeman’s Ball.

I hate Amazon and Bezos probably more than anyyone else here... But how are we peasants to know who is on terrorist watch lists? I used to sell on eBay and from several little webstores of my own.

The Federal government never sent me a list of people I’m not allowed to do business with. Do they send them to bigger businesses like Amazon, so that they know?

I can see where businesses that sell that require an export license or are ITAR items, would be required to know who they are selling to, but a regular retail business....

How many people on the watch lists buy at the grocery store? Is Safeway going to be in trouble for selling them stuff?

Look up OFAC list. I think there are still free methods to query it.

From July 2017:

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is under investigation for allegedly selling goods to a person on the federal government’s terrorism list, possibly violating sanctions against Iran in the process.

In its quarterly report to investors, Amazon said it sold approximately $300 worth of goods to an individual blacklisted by the USA government under Executive Order 13224, which was signed by President George W. Bush in 2001 and aims to “disrupt the financial support network for terrorists and terrorist organizations”.

The consumer goods, valued at $24,700, were sold to an Iranian embassy in another country.

“In 2016, we determined that we processed and delivered orders of consumer products for certain individuals and entities located outside Iran covered by the Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act or other United States sanctions and export control laws”, Amazon said in the 10-Q filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Thanks. I looked.

The query system seems quite cumbersome (I made up some likely names and the search results returned nothing)., and the download complete list is 1172 pages long.

I don’t see how they expect a normal business to go through all that hassle for run of the mill stuff.

When I bought some ITAR stuff a few years ago, I had to fill out forms and promise that I wasn’t a prohibited person and would not export it. That I can see.

Hey, I got an idea... Amazon shoulda sent them all a free Alexa device, and a Prime membership, and the feds would have a direct line right into the terrorist’s homes / offices.

Look up OFAC list. I think there are still free methods to query it.

OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) was for Financial Services and governed those who work in Financial Services only, I thought?

OFAC applies to retailers? YIKES, I cannot imagine every retail sale having to be validated against the OFAC list. How would that work with cash sales? Require ID to buy? I've never seen that....
