Vice News D.C. Chief Admits There Were ‘Paid’ Anti-Kavanaugh Protesters
mrcNEWSBUSTERS ^ | October 7, 2018 | Nicholas Fondacaro

Many in the liberal media scoff when President Trump or others on the right point out that leftists pay protesters to show up and organize. During ABC’s This Week on Sunday, the network’s chief White House correspondent Jon Karl sought to discredit the assertion since the President noted it at a rally the previous night. But he didn’t appear to get the answer he was looking when Vice News D.C. Bureau Chief Shawna Thomas appeared to admit that there were people paid to organize.

“So, Vice News actually spent a lot of time with the protesters over this past week. We saw the President say these were professional protesters paid by George Soros est. est.,” Karl mocked. “Who were these people, what was going on?”

After talking about following the efforts of a group of Native-Americans talking with Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski (R), Thomas shifted to talking about those who “organized”. “And that moment with Jeff Flake on the Hill, we talked to one woman who worked for Ultraviolet who was paid. She helped steer people in the right ways to be able to confront senators,” she admitted.

“So, there were paid…” Karl trailed off seemingly dumbfounded as Thomas continued. “There were people who were paid by organizations like Ultraviolet to try to harness that energy in a way that would make the viral moments that we ended up seeing,” she said.

After I tweeted a video of her saying this, Thomas wanted to clarify:

I said there were some official organizations in the mix who have staff & consultants that were part of these protests. And some of them were helping individuals with tactics. That is not the same as ppl [sic] being paid to protest who don’t care about this issue.

She also shared a video Vice News published showing the efforts of some of these protest organizers. In the video, viewers see one professional named Melissa Byrne, who they described as a “full time progressive activist”. Vice documented how she led a group of protesters through the Capitol’s many hallways to track down and ambush GOP Senators, she even took a group to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s D.C. area residence and shouted for him to come out.

“I wanted to make it so that they couldn’t walk, the Senators, couldn’t walk anywhere without seeing one of us,” Byrne told Vice. The video also showed how pleasant she was with Democratic lawmakers but would crank up the emotion on a whim, seemingly coming to the point of tears, when confronting GOP Senators. Not the best evidence against the President’s claim.

Of course, with the protests comes the liberal media’s talk of the so-called “blue wave”. So, on This Week, they talked about what was in store for Kavanaugh should the Democrats take the House, which was more investigations.

“[Democrats] can really make his life, you know, miserable,” touted Politico Congressional correspondent Rachel Bade as she explained all the ways:

They want the FBI investigation – they want to make that public. There's a huge stack of tip that is the FBI received that they did not chase that Democrats are going to look into. They're going to talk to potential witnesses that some these women told the FBI to speak with that they did not. They're going to look at his statements to the committee and see if he perjured himself.

And the liberal media have been eating up those “viral moments” Thomas talked about to push their election predictions.

Yea I know this is over but still want the facts to get out. They were paid protesters and would not have been there if someone had not given them the green. They really don't care.

I guess it was due to all those professionally printed signs they were carrying.

On the subject of paid protesters.

Liberal “protests” are meaningless. I became aware of their lack of grass roots support when I worked for GD which had an investment in apartheid South Africa. I’d see the lackluster protesters arrive on a private bus about a block away. Somebody in a van would be handing out professionally printed signs and box lunches. They’d arrive around eight and be lining up for the bus at around four-thirty. Every day, the same routine and the same protesters. An article in the sympathetic Tallahassee Democrat said the protests were paid for by “activists” at Florida State University. They stopped when a GD lawyer discovered that FSU had a far larger investment in South Africa in their retirement funds than GD had. (GD paid US wages and had black managers at a time when black managers were unknown in SA.)

That started me wondering about the protesters. It turns out that you can write a check to a company specializing in protest organizing. For your check you get x amount of protesters, professionally printed signs, paper Mache figures, private buses under contract, and even hotel accommodations for your protesters if it’s a multi-day effort. Years ago there was a TV show about one of these companies. It was run by what appeared to be elderly hippies who employed other hippies in a commune to make the signs and paper Mache figures. See the links below, in case you want a multi-day protest. All you need is the money to pay for it.

Vice News asked the question. They did not like the answer, but when they got it, they ran with it.

To my mind that makes them 1000 times more journalists than CBS, NBC, CNN, et. al.

It’s like how someone does something to upset Muslims and half a world away a bunch of barely literate folks takes to the streets with signs printed in English.

Did you see the string "revcom.us" on any of the signs? Or have they decided it would be better to stay below the radar on this?

In the Eighties I was involved as an attorney defending a company that radical environmental groups were trying to shut down. (They claimed they were destroying rainforests, which was a complete fabrication.) They flew their own protesters from the Bay Area to the client’s worksite on the other side of the country to shut down the company’s operations through “mass resistance.” They also brought their own professional video crews and tried to trigger confrontations with the company’s employees, including swinging sticks and pickaxes at the employees. Any escalation would then be then be captured by the camera crew and edited to make it look like the employees were the aggressors.

Because of the danger of violence, there were a number of police, both uniformed and plainclothes, on the scene. One of the plainclothes officers had infiltrated a pre-protest meeting of the group, where the protestors were told that what was happening really had nothing to do with our client, but was the focus of an end-of-the-year fundraising campaign for the environmental organizations.

A good example of a total set up is those “MeToo” ladies that got on the elevator with Flake. That was totally orchestrate and fake, they did it with the camera crews ready to pick up their spiel and then broadcast it.

Does in not make sense that these professional protesters would vote for Republicans in the November election?

If they don't, they would be voting themselves out of employment.

Always winning!

“Too bad liberal news media can’t be bothered!”

The fact that the Tallahassee Democrat mentioned that the General Dynamics protests were paid for by FSU “activists” says reporters know all about how the protests are organized and paid for. I think the general attitude of the press is to say, “Don’t look at that man behind the curtain.” The fact that protests are largely paid for and wouldn’t occur without substantial backing from an interest group is okay with them. In their view, it’s the way the world works and it’s okay and normal. It’s when they look at, say, a Tea Party protest and accuse the Right of having it paid for that grinds my tail. Pelosi called the Tea Party, Astroturf. Projection for sure.

Obviousman pontificates again. After the Craigslist adds for demonstrators no one supposed that they were volunteers guided by their strong feelings.

Our enemies are taking notes no doubt. No need to invade the US. Just pay US progressive rewards to start tearing everything apart.

Someone posted here the other day what a shame it was when the ‘professionals’ closed many of the asylums for the mentally ill.

Could not agree more. Mainstreaming crazy people is just plain nuts.

That is not the same as ppl [sic] being paid to protest who don’t care about this issue.

Our claim is not whether the protestors care about the issues or not. It is that they are paid! After the 8 years of the Clinton administration, we have become experts at recognizing the left's weasel words.
