If they can force gay marriage on all states and overwrite state constitutional laws banning it,

then for a right explicitly guaranteed protection and defense in the federal constitution,

it certainly should be something that gets done.

I am all for both open and concealed carry. I have a TX CHL. But I am a bigger fan of states rights.

If Massachussetts doesn’t want me to have a pistol on me while in their great state, so be it. Lots of places in Texas I can spend my money.

The right to bears arms....

I’m thinking states rights will be protected, as they decide where guns are allowed in their own state. Example, I cant bring a gun into a court room. So if I cant do that, the right has guardrails, and a conservative SCOTUS will not step onto a states turf and dictate. Another example, fireworks. I can have firecrackers in my car in one state, but not another.

I would love to see a universal carry permit.

I live in MA, and they don’t want me to carry. Let alone someone from out of state.

This is NOT a states rights issue. It is in the Federal Constitution. The Government shall NOT disarm us. It is our right.

What state has ever had the right to violate a Constitutional provision?

Should allow concealed.

That way you don’t “scare” the gun grabbers who claim to be scared by the sight, and the one carrying is not subject to their harassment.

I should be able to carry on my body or possess a gun in anything I own in every state.

Make it ‘law of the land’ through the courts- just like they did with gay marriage... except this one is actually in the constitution

Congress can pass a uniform federal carry law. There is already one on the books for retired cops; it can be amended to include every one else.

One’ s Second Amendment rights shouldn’t end at a state border.

And that's fine for those who reside in the great state of Texas. But, does the US Constitution apply to residents of all states, or just some? Many are willing to stay and fight, rather than walk away from parents, children, grandchildren, siblings and other family, not to mention communities, church, careers, friends, real estate, etc.

That said, I'm not comfortable with the current court, and would prefer the replacement of one more leftist before sending them a critical 2A case that will effect our rights for generations.

The last reciprocity bill that got lots of hype (and went nowhere despite us controlling both houses of congress and the White House) was a worthless PR stunt. It would do nothing for those who live in deep blue states with restrictive laws.

This is all predicated upon the Obergefell decisions that say if one state recognizes a “marriage” between two men then all have to. OK, turnabout is fair play. Why can’t we have a real national reciprocity bill that gives, say, Texas carry standards everywhere? That’s the whole point of cramming this right up their... oh, wait a minute, they might like that.

My point is that the GOP has let us down tremndously with respect to gun rights right at a time when we need them most.

They say that if you need permission, it’s not a right.

Permits are permission, not your right.

It’s a tough area there. To ban our natural ability to defend ourselves (Deer have antlers, sharks have teeth.. Humans have brains and design devices to keep ourselves at the top of the food chain) anywhere is to tell us “You’re not worth saving. You should be hurt or killed.”

I dream of a day when every single person, at the age that their parents consent to, can carry any weapon of their choosing for any reason that they see fit.
