Geneology is fun!! Found out Mrs Submareener and I are ninth cousins one time removed. We both have a common ancestor who was part of the Plumb family who colonized Plumb Island. If you are related to one President, you’re related to most of them.

Anyone who can trace their genealogy back to any settlers in America before about 1670 (when the UK started shipping random people here to get rid of them) is probably going to be related because the gene pool was that small . . . another reason many of our early ancestors married or at least produced children by natives and slaves.

All of my ancestors were here before 1670. In addition, I have Mormon ancestors, which means that I am related to about half the people in the US. Well, I exaggerate a little... but the Mormons were incredibly prolific.
Not really. It is far back, different branches. Hillary and President Trump are only related in my husband’a dna, not to each other. Hillary’a looks iffy, but the President’s line to Scotland looks good. My two sets of grandparents are not related to each other.

My brother is not related to my wife's brother. My brother's children and grandchildren are not related to my brother-in-law's children and grandchildren. But my children and grandchildren are related to all of them, because they share common ancestors. My kids and my brother's kids share two of the same grandparents (my parents) and my kids and my brother-in-law's kids share two of the same grandparents (my wife's parents).
