An Adidas executive and two other insiders from the high-stakes world of college basketball recruiting were convicted Wednesday in a corruption case that prosecutors said exposed the underbelly of the sport. A federal jury in Manhattan found former Adidas executive James Gatto, business manager Christian Dawkins and amateur league director Merl Code guilty of fraud charges. The trial centered on whether the men's admitted efforts to channel secret payments to the families of top recruits luring them to major basketball programs sponsored by Adidas was criminal. At stake was a fortune in revenue for the basketball programs and potential endorsement deals for the players if they went pro.

Gee I kids game
Sooooo important
Thug ball.
I would imagine that Bill Self is happy that Bob Self got implicated.
Schools?
LOL
Almost all the big mane programs. Most of them are smart enough to put enough distance between the head coach and the families to have plausible deniability.
Pitino, Jim Calhoun, Jim Boeheim, and John Calipari are/were some of the sleaziest of all.
Boeheim had a child sex abuser on his staff that took little boys on road trips, yet claimed he knew nothing about the abuse.
It’s also possible that some of the kids who’s parents were paid to steer them to a particular school didn’t know the parents got paid. If the money was big, that’s not likely because the kid would notice that their parents all of a sudden had some nice stuff.
I agree. Someone needs to challenge these criminal statutes as a violation of the 5th and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution. These statutes only serve to allow colleges and the NCAA to protect their monopoly and billions of dollars in revenue.
I’ve read that their is talk of the NBA forming a “G” League so kids with NBA potential can make up to $150K for one year before being drafted. Only problem with that is that some of those same kids can make more money going to college for a year.
Pitino is absolute trash.
All four of the coaches I specifically mentioned grew up in mob-controlled cities.
There were a few guys that paid players at UCLA when John Wooden was there. I can see John Wooden just being so naive that he couldn’t see what was happening behind his back.
Pitino having an assistant hire hookers for recruit visits does get any lower.
