Sorry FRiend, you’re too ignorant to realize the point of the thread and the article.
Here’s a hint, it ain’t about parking tickets.
“The kind response I received after thanking a thanking a parking enforcement officer” would have been a very accurate headline for this article but these days you have to amp it up to “amazing” “stunning” or add “you’ll never believe what happened next” to achieve maximum clickbait.
BTW, did you ever notice, that as the workday goes on, that spot one avoids from standing on, moves further and further out, util it becomes impossible to hit the target.
I think many people in my place of work owe that cleanup person.
Trust me, those meter maids are smug bastards who just love handing you the ticket even thou they see you walking to your car.
Foul mouthed and angry is no way to go through life, son.
Support Free Republic, Folks!
It is not a conservative ideal to verbally abuse (or worse) those who are enforcing simple rules. If you do not like the laws, then an actual conservative would lobby to change them... not screech foul language like a toddler online. Grow up and grow a pair.
For that matter you could make it FREE one hour parking and you get a ticket when the time printed on your dashboard receipt is up.
There’s no need to charge people to park on the streets except to make $$.
AT LEAST in the old days if someone filled the meter with two hours of quarters and left after 20 minutes, you weren’t paying TWICE or THREE TIMES for the same time period.
Electronic print outs did away with that.
There’s NOTHING RIGHT about the city getting paid 2 or 3 or FOUR TIMES for the same time period.
And it disgusts me.
For all I know, where you are from they have a much less sinister setup and then yes, it could make some sense.
This was in Bethesda - the Berkeley of the East Coast bringing small-town hardcore suburban liberal pretentiousness to what is a dense urban environment.
Law enforcement officers of whatever variety/job are the thin blue line that separate us from the crazies.
I, for one, am glad they’re there.
Agree.
In DC I was walking on the sidewalk and saw a parking enforcement patrol car park in a no parking zone, blocking the handicap access to the crosswalk, and then saw another parking enforcement officer park her vehicle in a marked no parking zone. Both went inside a restaurant and were there for over an hour.
They came out and one meter-maid saw a vehicle parked across the street, blocking the same handicapped no parking zone, blocking handicap access to the crosswalk.
She went to that vehicle and ticketed it.
The meter-maid girls became aggressive when I pointed out they were also parked illegally. . . and they demanded to know what car on the street was mine. . . .a threat.
I called Parking enforcement and tried to file an official complaint. Was hung up on.
The "one free hour" idea is a good one. I grew up in a town that had a variation of that. There was a downtown municipal lot where you had to pay to park, and most of the downtown merchants would deduct the cost of the parking from your purchase if you turned the receipt over to them.
I was in New Orleans (early 80s) and set my watch timer, got to the meter with 5 minutes left and the meter maid was writing a ticket. Yes the meter showed expired but there was still 5 minutes time showing. I pointed that out to here and she basically said she could not do anything.
They are rat bastards and this whole thread is insane.
Yaelle, you did a good job summing up what scum they are.
Well said, I’ve learned that you meet many pleasant people when they are treated respectfully.
Ahhhhh, I see.
Yeah, I have 3 sons. While I did train them well, no seats are ever left up in my house (though if I had my own house Id design a boys bathroom with urinal for them!), I know one of them cheats and pees with the seat down...
Wow. It's on your PERMANENT RECORD!
You need to simmer down...
