Some cities are worse than others, and NYC is the worst from everything I’ve heard. I hate getting a parking ticket as much as anyone, but I don’t complain about it. Parking regulations are critical for the well-being of many municipalities — not for the revenue, but because local merchants need those spaces to turn over frequently just so they can attract customers.
For that matter you could make it FREE one hour parking and you get a ticket when the time printed on your dashboard receipt is up.
There’s no need to charge people to park on the streets except to make $$.
AT LEAST in the old days if someone filled the meter with two hours of quarters and left after 20 minutes, you weren’t paying TWICE or THREE TIMES for the same time period.
Electronic print outs did away with that.
There’s NOTHING RIGHT about the city getting paid 2 or 3 or FOUR TIMES for the same time period.
And it disgusts me.
For all I know, where you are from they have a much less sinister setup and then yes, it could make some sense.
