Twitter losing its 'like' button is basically the dumbest thing ever. Here's why.

Twitter is reportedly considering a major change in efforts to decrease toxicity on the ubiquitous social media platform used by more than 60 million people each month: the longstanding 'like' button could be on its way out.

The Telegraph reports Twitter founder Jack Dorsey said last week at a Twitter event that he "was not a fan of the heart-shaped button" and would get rid of it "soon." This was foreshadowed by Dorsey's sentiments at the WIRED 25 Summit.

"We have a big like button with a heart on it and we're incentivizing people to want (their likes) to go up," Dorsey said. "Is that the right thing? Versus contributing to the public conversation or a healthy conversation? How do we incentivize healthy conversation?"

Twitter used to have a star, which didn't necessarily indicate like or dislike, but they changed it to a heart for whatever reason.

Maybe people are just not liking what the Left wants liked, so they will ban it.

There is no healthy conversation on Twitter with all the shadow banning and blocking accounts. I was blocked last week, then checked and was shadow banned, as well.

Good. I’ve been on Twitter for 2 years and have never “liked” anything. Too Facebookey...

Better yet, Get rid of Twitter all together. They certainly don’t blink an eye whacking decent people and their accounts..

Why should they or other social media sites profit from that?

If the Republicans hold Congress, then I think there’s a good chance Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai may all step down. Why? Because they want bail when the SEC and FTC investigates these companies for violating US securities laws for their heavy-handed censorship.

I registered on twitter just to see what all the fascination is about and gave it up after a short time. I never could figure out how to follow threads, or decide who was talking to who.

IMO facebook could have been a much better vehicle for actual social and political interaction. It's too bad about what has happened to it.

The solution to all social problems is less communication and more controlled speech. /sarc
Get rid of people saying “the wrong things” (conservatives).
Get rid of ways to show approval of what others say.
...

And lefties will be shocked at election results after conservative speech is only allowed on “non-popular social platforms”. In 2016 they “don’t know anyone who likes Trump” but he won, and in the future they “don’t read any tweets liking that candidate”. How could someone win if nobody likes them? Elections must be rigged since nobody has communicated to ME that they like that candidate - twitter says so.

Too many lefty shows and weak-ass Netflix originals were getting panned.

Also, displaying that most of their content receives poor ratings is bad optics.

Twitter’s just going to decide what you like for you, so you don’t need to worry about it.

I got shadow banned for posting a bible verse a year ago. Dropped the platform and never looked back. I had 2,500 followers.

How do we incentivize healthy conversation?

With a like button, like the one you want to remove.

Talk about Stupid from 2009 to 2015 your tweets were some of the best I ever saw in the enitre conservative movement. Everything you tweeted from politics, economics, pop culture, sports was gold heck I even enjoyed your informal Twitter debate with Dr. Tom Woods John Calhoun.
