ST. ALBANS, WV (AP) - The American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia says a city's proposed vagrancy ordinance is unconstitutional and discriminates against people for being homeless.
The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports the local ACLU sent a letter to St. Albans officials Friday asking city council members to reconsider before voting on the ordinance during the next regular council meeting Nov. 5. ACLU of West Virginia Legal Director Loree Stark says the proposal is too vaguely written and doesn't define what sort of behavior is permitted or prohibited, leaving the discretion up to individual officers.

Isn’t that the point?
An interesting point to ponder this morning is whether or not the ACLU or the press is the greater enemy of the country.
Have no doubt that both are top of the enemy list. But which is the greater?
Point is we need rid of the ACLU
Perhaps, the homeless should form caravan and invade homes of media and Dems. I’m sure they’ll be happy to support them.

“Homeless” is not a protected class.
Up in St. Albans they have a church that feeds the poor all but two days a week. This church is right by the Coal River. For a while some homeless were camped by the river but locals were complaining about who messy they were. I told them to ask they mayor to pass a nuisance ordinance and see about getting funds and pay the local rock and stone company dump huge rocks on the river banks so they could not camp there.

Actually, the lack of vagrancy laws encourage homelessness. It allows people to just be bums rather than cooperate with society.
Let the ACLU take it to the Supremes. Who the heck do they think they are? They can come live in LA or San Fran WITH the homeless encampments and then they can throw their commie weight around.

It’s time vagrancy laws were brought back! They used to keep the riff raff out of town.
Seriously though, I get that many homeless people are experiencing hard times, but there are several social service organizations and many private ones that would help them. However, there are many that prefer the homeless lifestyle because it is so easy. Nice warm climate, a local government that has your back, free meals at shelters or dumpsters plus whatever gets donated to provide benefits.

Ship all of the homeless to the homes and neighborhoods of the Anti-Christian Lunacy Union (moniker courtesy of the late great William Buckley) lawyers and leadership and tell them “now is the opportunity to put your money where your mouth is.”
