It was a Thursday. My last work day of the week.

At that time, I was working 2-midnight. It was snowing lightly on my way in. By the time midnight rolled around, there were 10 inches on the ground and it was coming down about an inch an hour.

The 17 mile trip home would normally take about 25 minutes at that time of night.

Three and one half hours later, after snow blowing a 75 yard path to my vehicle, I was home and dry.

It continued to snow until over 28 inches of snow fell.

Finally, at 4 PM on Sunday, the plows got to us.

I'll never forget that one!

Enjoy the photos.

You know, some years we don’t get that much and some folks complain about short ski seasons.

If you remember, this was the same storm system that produced “The Perfect Storm” on the east coast.

That’s just a little snow. We had a larger one in Colorado in 78. 34 inches in 24 hrs with 100 mph winds. 20 to 30 ft drifts, could not getinto or out of town for 4 days and no electrify for days.

Two feet of snow?

Is that supposed to be unusual?

It’s fairly unusual. A good snow around here is 8-10”

Bad thing about 1991 is that we got another 20” over Thanksgiving.

On April 13, 1993, we got 27 inches of snow in East Tennessee...

THAT is unusual...

I’d say it’s a little unusual for Halloween. I do remember a Halloween in West Michigan in 1964 where we had at least 3 feet of snow on the ground for trick or treating. That was a bit early. That’s more typical of a Thanksgiving.

It is in Oct in MN.
I remember seeing it two months later when I flew home for Christmas.
Many Halloween decorations didn’t come down until Feb

The pictures reminded me they made a lot of crappy cars in the 80’s.

I’ll bet you even see the sun in the winter, too.

Around here, 2 feet isn’t unusual out of a nor’easter, and then the next day, we get slammed by lake-effect.

Yes, Oct is early for that kind of snowfall.

We STILL haven’t lost the leaves on the trees around here. They haven’t changed color either. I have NEVER seen that so late in the year. Everything is usually down by a good week before Halloween.

It’s going to be yet another crappy fall with no color. The leaves will just turn brown and come down when it finally freezes hard enough.

HOPEFULLY, we won’t get a heavy snowfall before then because otherwise we could be really screwed.
