Precisely why the founders excluded the children of foreign nationals from being President with the natural born citizen requirement.

That is a great quote. I've never heard of this guy. Turns out he is a great 20th century Colombian philosopher and his work apparently has not been translated to English yet. The quote is from his book Escolios a un texto implicito: Obra completa.

by Nicolás Gómez Dávila

Latino Book Award 2006 - Mariposa Award (Best First Book)

Amazon:
Presented for the first time in its entirety, this luxurious edition contains the complete collection of Nicolás Gómez Dávila's Escolios. The aphorisms, or modestly named "annotations," are distillations of the thought of one of the America's most outstanding conservative philosophers. Compared, among others, with Pascal, Rivarol, Joubert, Jürgen, and Cioran, Gómez Dávila is now recognized as a thinker of world stature with a shocking sense of clarity and originality of thought.

Amazon Reviewer Nikos A. Salingaros: "Here is the complete work of the great colombian philosopher, collected and available for the first time in years, with some parts available generally for the first time ever...Nicolas Gomez-Davila is relatively unknown not only in the english-speaking world, but even among Spanish speakers. Nevertheless, for those in the know (and especially among those who have discovered Gomez-Davila's aphorisms in German and Italian translations), his work is placed at the pinnacle of incisive thought, observation of humanity's strengths and weaknesses, and conciseness of expression mixed with poetry. A real bargain for those who know what this is all about.
