These are death nails they are putting into their own coffins. Every senator that voted DOWN on Kavanaugh got beat in the election ... you would think they would consider this one a “third rail issue.”
As soon as they launch their investigation, the Democrats will immediately call for Judge Kavanaugh to recuse himself from any cases being heard by the Supreme Court. They will argue that he should not be making rulings on any cases “while he’s under investigation for perjury.” They know they will never succeed with impeachment, but they hope to keep him on the sidelines for as long as possible.

This is never going anywhere. The Senate will reject it. He may be impeached but not convicted. Just like Samuel Chase was acquitted by the Senate on March 1, 1805.

The Democrats know they have absolutely no legitimate reason to impeach Justice Kavanaugh. In my opinion, the real strategy here is to try to handcuff Kavanaugh and the Supreme Court as much as possible until 2020. Once they launch their investigation, their main talking point will be: ‘Justice Kavanaugh needs to immediately recuse himself from all cases being heard by the Supreme Court. It is highly inappropriate for him to be hearing and ruling on any cases while he himself is under investigation.” Also, they know there is a real possibility that President Trump will have the opportunity to make another Supreme Court nomination (possibly two) before the end of his first term. If that happens, a second talking point will be: “The Senate should not even consider any additional appointments to the Supreme Court while one of the current justices is under investigation.” It’s a totally illogical argument, but that won’t stop the Democrats and their allies in the media from advancing that argument.
