More than five weeks after a gunman shot and killed two people in Rogers Park, apparently at random, the reward for information to help solve the case has been raised to $150,000.

The reward, boosted by donations from residents and businesses, is believed to be the largest offered in Chicago for a crime suspect, according to police officials. It had been $23,000.

The shootings happened blocks apart from one another within about 36 hours. Douglass Watts, 73, was killed just steps from his home in the 1400 block of West Sherwin Avenue while walking his dogs on the morning of Sept. 30. Eliyahu Moscowitz, 24, was shot around 10:20 p.m. Oct. 1 while walking on the lakefront bike path in the 1100 block of West Lunt Avenue...

Surely the murders of Mr. Eliyahu Moscowitz (just another boy from the 'hood, I imagine. What do you think? Crips? Bloods? I understand most of the Moscowitzes are Crips...) and Douglas Watts have nothing at all to do with race or religion.

Well, we'll know soon enough... When the mainstream media don't pick up the story and the memories of these people fade away into the black.

Eliyahu Moscowitz was Orthodox Jewish.

Definitely not a “boy from the hood”.
