A woman from Ohio has been caught with her hand in the cookie jar, literally. Noel Hines, 31, accepted a large order for Girl Scout cookies to sell for her daughter's troop in March, but when time came for the bill to be paid, the Girls Scouts claim they never received any payment. Girl Scout officials and police say they then tried to contact Hines several times over a period of six months but were never successful at reaching her in order to retrieve the $1,600 that they were owed. 'That's the way the cookie crumbles,' North College Hill police wrote in a Facebook post.
Earlier this week Hines was arrested for unrelated charges and charged with theft at the North College Hill Mayor's court.

'When we have evidence that an adult misuses troop funds, we pursue vigorously and, when appropriate, contact law enforcement to recover as much money for the troop as possible. This is not something we take lightly,' the company said in a statement.
Hines was arraigned and is scheduled to appear in court on November 28.

I looked up her criminal history in Hamilton County Ohio. There alone she has 18 separate charges. 5 traffic, 12 municipal/civil, and 1 common pleas civil (whatever that is). And believe it or not, one of those is a garnishment of wages. Huh!? Go figure. Why was she allowed to have $1600 of cookies on loan in the first place.
Another charge is an eviction. She must not like to pay for things.
Why should she? People don’t pay for stuff, da gubmint does dat.

I had a mental picture of what this “mom” looked like before
I opened to read. And my mental picture was just like the real one.
Did the mom think, like the Free Obama phones, the cookies were free?
I wonder what flavors she liked best?
“Well, I had to buy some things and the money was right there. If the money is gone, I can’t pay it. You’ll have to get it from someone else”
I have some experience with the GS organization and they would have been thrilled that this woman was running a troop. Her criminal history would have been overlooked.
I’m never surprised by the picture any more. She looks like she has the intellectual and moral maturity of a 5 year old.

What’s truly sad is she has a daughter (and God knows how many more kids). What kind of life will that little girl have with a mother like that as her example?
