National Right to Life restates its endorsement of Cindy Hyde-Smith for U.S. Senate

JACKSON, Miss. – At a press conference today in Jackson, National Right to Life restated its unequivocal endorsement of Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith for the U.S. Senate.

Hyde-Smith faces pro-abortion former Rep. Mike Espy in a November 27 run-off election.

“Cindy Hyde-Smith is the only candidate in the November 27 run-off election who represents the true pro-life values of Mississippi,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Mike Espy does not.”

As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1988-1992, Mike Espy sided with pro-abortion Democrats dozens of times. His record includes scored votes against the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits federal funds from paying for abortion in the Medicaid program; the Dornan Amendment, which prohibited the use of federal funds from paying for abortion in the District of Columbia; and votes in favor of giving federal funds to organizations that perform and promote abortion overseas.

Mike Espy was a co-sponsor of the so-called “Freedom of Choice Act,” a piece of pro-abortion legislation so sweeping it would have invalidated all federal, state, and local limitations on abortion – nullifying the types of common-sense pro-life laws that the Supreme Court has said are permitted under Roe v. Wade.

“To put it plainly: Mike Espy’s pro-abortion views are out of step and grossly out of touch with the pro-life values of The Magnolia State,” said Tobias.

In contrast, Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith opposes using federal tax dollars to pay for abortion and, in her first pro-life vote in the U.S. Senate, she voted for an amendment that would have blocked abortion-providing organizations, like Planned Parenthood, from receiving federal funds from Medicaid, CHIP, and various block-grant programs.

“We encourage all voters who are concerned with the right to life and with protecting society’s most vulnerable to vote for Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith in the November 27 run-off election,” added Tobias.

I hope Trump does a rally or two for her. I know it’s an odd time of year for a rally, but I think people will turn out.

How long until we see Hailey Barbour and Karl Rove launch a broadside against Hyde-Smith? How long until the RINO hit squad swoops in to create some faux drama? Is Hyde-Smith a witch? Did Hyde-Smith date a teenager when she was a teen?
