McLean Police District Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are investigating a suspicious man and woman that approached a young girl in the Pine Spring Neighborhood in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County. The preliminary investigation shows a girl was walking home from elementary school with her adult brother yesterday afternoon around 3:45. They were approached by a man and a woman at the intersection of Pine Spring Road and Meadow View Road. The pair offered a treat to the girl and motioned her towards them. The brother moved his sister away from the pair. The siblings made it home safely and reported the incident to their mom. Their mom reported it to Pine Spring Elementary School employees today, and they immediately called us.
The woman is described as white, between 40 and 50 years old, 52, 140 pounds, with shoulder length straight blonde or grey hair. She was wearing black pants and a white jacket with a hood. Our initial description of the man is only that he is between 40 and 50 years old with short hair. The couple is believed to have been driving a newer model white passenger van, with a yellow license plate.

Horrible. Thank God her brother was with her.
Just a couple of Dems trying to register new voters.
Can we exercise social justice and act like vigilantes in pursuit of these two, or do we have to be quiet and let them dine in peace?
Unless the adult older brother is, what’s the politically correct term these days, developmentally disabled. If true, and the perps were aware of it, say through surveilling the child, then the perps might have felt safe in trying it.
Still, it was risky. If this happened, wonder why the perps went after this particular child?
“Could have been perfectly harmless.”
Total strangers offering a treat along the road to a child?
No.
This may or may not have been some sort of attempt at “no good”, but since the girl was with her adult brother I’m more inclined to think this was innocent. The cops will have to investigate a little nevertheless.
Does Harvey Weinstein drive a van?
Well Played, Cobol. :-)
Unless some company was handing out free samples, I, as an adult, wouldn’t accept candy from some strangers on the street. She had a smart, protective brother.
Perhaps the adult brother was lagging behind the little girl but keeping her in sight as she frolicked ahead. The suspects may not have seen him and then taken off when he ran up to her after they approached.
Would you do such a thing?
Spoke with a detective I knew when I lived there. He said the brother was not side-by side with sister, the sister was doing what children do, run ahead and play and he kept pace with her. Likely the criminals were not aware she was with him.
