The CDC put out a zombie apocalypse survival guide years ago. The purpose was not to seriously suggest that such an apocalypse is possible, but to capitalize on the popularity of zombie fiction to engage people in a subject that is typically very dry. Disaster preparedness guides are not known for their riveting plots or empathetic characters.

City water and Natural Gas stops flowing.
City and suburban populations BECOME THE ZOMBIES, as they seek survival supplies.
Many of them will be well armed, at least to the extent they can carry the load. (the grasshoppers who believe they can steal from the ants)
