A farmer died after his dog knocked over a lever in his forklift truck, causing it to move forward and push him against a gate, causing fatal injuries, an inquest heard on Friday.

Derek Mead was constructing a rock garden at his residence in Hewish, near Weston-super Mare, in Somerset, England, on June 4, 2017, the BBC reported.

The 70-year-old farmer left his furry friend, a Jack Russell terrier, inside the machine as it was running but left it in neutral as he went to open the gate leading to his land, the Evening Standard reported. The dog was believed to have knocked the lever, sending the forklift forward

Just reported by Fox, even though it happened in 2017.

Not a good idea to leave pets or children in vehicles with the engine running.

Many stories of dogs locking doors and locking owners out since lock buttons are now laying flat and right where fido likes to stand while wanting for the boss.

Had to call AAA here when a pooch locked the F350 up on one friend.

My dad, a contractor, had a Ferguson tractor with a front-end loader bucket. He let me climb into the bucket once, and lifted the loader up into the air ten feet or so. It was thrilling until my younger brother, sitting on Dad’s lap, reached over and pulled the ‘dump’ handle.

A Jack Russell in an idling vehicle... that’s like letting an espresso-drinking orangutan reel in a trophy sized trout on 2 lb test.

If the poor guy had lived here in the US the dog would have killed him with his own Glock.

Like so many of our “loyal and loving” pets - they wait for just the right moment . . .

Never leave your pet in a parked car when the outside temperature is above 70 degrees. Not even with the windows partway down, not even in the shade, not even for a quick errand. Dogs and cats can’t sweat like humans, so they pant to lower their body temperature. If they’re inside a car, recycling very hot air, panting gives no relief, and heat stroke can happen quickly.

Is that the same Ferguson that made Al Bundy’s toilet?

I went shopping for a present for my wife.

I brought along The Little Dog because he likes to listen to the oldies radio channel.

I pull into the parking lot and left the pickup engine running when I went inside the store because it’s been kind of cold here and I didn’t want the little guy to get uncomfortable.

I come back out and get into the pickup and I notice that there’s fifteen more miles on the odometer than when I went into the store.

I asked The Little Dog if he had gone for a joy ride.

He said he’d been out drag racing for pink slips.

I asked him if he’d done any good.

He said he lost the pickup in a race with a Greyhound who was driving a Yugo.

Everybody knows Greyhounds use nitrous, but Mr Big Daddy Little Dog had no idea what nitrous is.

Well, we hitch hiked home with The Little Dog telling me to buy one of those Hellcat Dodge Challengers so he could resume his racing career.

I told him to take up stamp collecting instead because I didn’t think he could beat a three legged cat in a race.
