A leading pioneer in the study of Grand Solar Minima and their effects on the planet has been solar physicist Professor Valentina Zharkova of Northumbria University. She has been attacked savagely for her theory that the weakened solar magnetosphere during a Grand Solar Minimum is the main factor in driving global cooling on Earth, but she is increasingly being vindicated as global cooling progresses. Recently, Professor Zharkova gave a lecture to the Global Warming Policy Foundation. You can view the lecture below, but it’s heavy-going. Here’s a summary of her main points:
• The solar magnetosphere is key to understanding how solar cycles influence Earth’s climate;
• Solar cycle oscillations are stable and consistent over time, so therefore predictable;
• We are in fact entering a Super Grand Solar Minimum, which recur approximately every 2000 years;
• This mini ice age will be much longer and more severe than earlier predicted, lasting 400 years;
• At the bottom of this ice age period in 200 years’ time, the average temperature on Earth will be 2C;
• The transition period into the ice age, which is usually the period of most vulcanism and disruption, will occur from 2020 until 2053.
Professor Zharkova’s research team have also demonstrated that temperature fluctuations on Earth, Mars and Jupiter all correlate to the solar cycle.
It’s the sun, stupid.
And, starting this winter in the Northern Hemisphere, everyone is going to realise that something is very, very wrong.

Yup. The shorter cycles proposed in Professor Zharkova’s research seems to offer a worthy complement to Milankovitch’s cycles and a possible remedy for the weaknesses in his theory.

I've read that everything above 40° north latitude will become semi arctic in less than twenty years. Millions of people will be fleeing the north for warmer climates nearer the equator.
The Chinese are already building railroads and highways in North Africa, in preparation for large scale farming operations. It's pretty obvious that they're building a replacement bread basket for their own people.
I want badly to hold on here in Texas, but I've got to research the long range forecasts for my region of the country. I think we'll be okay, but I expect to be inundated with climate refugees.
Careful. I’m very doubtful the average world temperature will drop to 2C. It may drop BY 2c but not actually fall to 2C.

That would actually be nice, but in this case, the experts are right. We're at the mercy of a 400 year climate cycle that's been a well established pattern for millions of years.

The world will survive this, but politically, it's going to be a very different place when it warms up again.
All they need to do is read history. The last one resulted in the collapse of the French Monarchy because the peasants wouldnt change their diet. All cereal based societies had to adapt to more than just wheat and other based grains.
Potato, Turnips, Carrots, Oats, Barley, for example. The Irish failed to continue to grow more rugged types of potatoes and relied on the one variety that was most liable to get the blight. They refused to grow other types of root crops and they ended up starving.
Winters will be extreme, like then, and summers will be cooler with extreme nasty thunderstorms.
BTW. This summer the swallows left northern Wisconsin the first week of August. They usually leave the last week.
