Thousands of people have protested in Budapest in support of a university founded by US-Hungarian billionaire George Soros that plans to leave the country amid strong pressure from Hungarys right-wing government.
Students from Central European University (CEU) and other universities including ELTE and Corvinus attended the rally in front of the Hungarian parliament.
Protesters voiced support for CEU, which said in October that it would start admitting students to a new campus in Vienna if the government did not acknowledge its legal status by December 1.
The government has rejected CEUs claim that it complies with a controversial law requiring foreign-headquartered universities to operate a campus in their home country.
CEU, which is registered in the United States but operates its main campus in Budapest, says it complies with the law after opening a facility in New York state. But a government spokesperson last week called the American site a Potemkin campus that fails to satisfy the law.

I think they misspelled CIA.
Another Soros rent-a-mob.
I”m surprise no one has offed the Soros slime mold.
A Potemkin campus operated by a Potemkin philanthropist. Publicly funded universities in America are already serving his agenda so, of course, Soros doesn't need an actual university here.
The Left pays its protestors; therefore we must assume all protestors from the Left are paid.
‘Rally’ they call it. If it was right wingers they would call it an ‘angry mob’.
> Another Soros rent-a-mob. <
Yep. He who pays the piper calls the tune.
I’m surprised the Mossad didn’t go after him.
Cops on horseback with truncheons and rubber bullets dispersed Marxist agitators quite well
I suspect very few even live in Hungary.
Headline “rally for” would seem to contradict the first sentence - “support - plans to leave the country”...I thought that was a grand idea until reading more.. I thought super, some more common sense from the Hungarians. Too bad! When are countries going to wake up to the peril this creep brings on nations and its people? Can his money buy that much?
No doubt the only reason for the Clintons and obozos to amass such fortunes. Our history is full of people called “robber barons” - who all contributed something of worth to the country. The same will never be said of these two families.
Are we to believe there actually is a university in the US founded by that loon and people actually enroll there?
“”Thousands of people have protested in Budapest in support of a university founded by US-Hungarian billionaire George Soros that plans to leave the country””
I wouldn’t be surprised if their government deports them.
