We’ve all heard about the conspiracy theories at Denver International Airport – now - another real mystery is brewing there.

A woman [Natasha Gay] called the FOX31 Problem Solvers to say her car was stolen several months ago.

And then it just reappeared. She wants answers and so do we. ..."

Gay’s 2007 Toyota SUV was stolen from the Avis employee parking lot in late July.

She had a temporary job at Avis at the time.

“I was definitely panicking at that moment because I was really just wondering what happened.”

Then on Thursday morning, almost five months later, a call came saying her car had been returned to the same parking lot.

I knew a guy that had a car stolen in San Antonio. It turned up a few blocks away a couple of weeks later with a 100 peso Mexican note in the door pocket and a lot of extra mileage on the odometer. We all figured it had made a round trip to Mexico.

Are you thinking it was “stock” for Avis’s equivalent “Rent a Wreck” subsidiary?

If there was no damage to the steering column then someone has been driving it with the proper ignition key.

My guess is this was an insurance scam to get cash from the insurance company which had paid off the loan. Now comes the time when the plates have to be renewed and she realizes she can't renew them because it's already been reported as stolen......

So she returns it to the lot where it will be found and returned to her, not realizing that it's now the property of the insurance company.

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.......

Maybe it has been used during The Caravan.
The Coyote has since upgraded to something more roomy, and with Bluetooth.

I think it was back in the Eighties, someone stole Fred Rogers’ car. When they realized they had heisted the car of none other than Mister Rogers himself, they felt so ashamed and guilt-ridden about it that they returned the car to the spot it had been taken from, along with a note of apology.

PI Jay J. Armes tells a lot of stories in his book "The Investigator" and some say they were tall tales or exaggerated. However, one I remember quite well was about a con lady who had invested her money wisely and made far more than she ever stole. She hired Jay J. Armes to help her return stolen money and items to make everything right without getting caught.

One of her scams was driving off with new cars and the final act was to return two Cadillac vehicles to the dealer spotless, with no fingerprints and the amount it would be to lease them in the car.

According to the book, they enjoyed watching the dealer employees freak out from across the street in a hidden vantage point.

We know a young LEO, who has called us Mom and Dad since he was a teenager.

He told us over a decade how car thieves steal, a car change the license plates and then drive the stolen car for weeks if not months.

He said they have at least two people and preferably 3 three involved. They steal a car and drive to a mall and park next to another car with standard license plates.

Two guys get out and take off the plates of the stolen car with their portable electric drivers. Then they take off the plates of the ‘donor’ car, install, the plates from the stolen vehicle. This takes about a minute per plate.

Next, they attach the stolen plates on the stolen vehicle and drive away.

Most of us never pay attention to our license plates nor do we know what the numbers are.

I have a personalized license plate and frame. The frame is attached with allen screws that can only be turned with a special sized allen wrench that comes with the frame.

Years ago, a coworker was going for his pilot license. I glanced through some of his aviation mags, and one article was about equipment thieves that would steal the electronic equipment out of a plane at one airport, go to another, and then steal the same equipment out of another, and put the first stolen "merchandise" into the second plane.

The 2nd serialized equipment being sold at that point, with hopefully, the 2nd victim not realizing and reporting the theft.

Three of us traveling to work as consultants Baltimore City Jail. Staying at the Lord baltimore.

We park on the street right in front of the hotel and the doorman and God and everybody else. The next morning, the car is gone. Mint green chevy mail with pj striping. The Hertz manager’s favorite car.

We’re in class with abound how Lt’s from the jail. They get on the phone can call cops they know. No one finds the car.

On the weekend the other two headed out I stay around. Sun day morning coffee shop. I sit next to the window. Look down the place and on the side street there is the car. An additional 147 miles. No scratches. happy hertz manager. Someone needed a car for the week.
