Enjoyed the article. My son switched us over to linux mint a couple of years ago.
I do have one question that perhaps someone could help me with: about three weeks ago, Chrome went down and will not come back up--loads for one or two seconds than goes away.
The kicker? My wife's account also has Chrome. Her's is working perfectly: loads, stays, does what Chrome's supposed to do.
Any idea how I, a non-tech savvy guy, can fix it? I've tried to read up on the forums about what might be wrong and what I can do to fix it, but those things are just beyond me.
Any ideas, folks? Thanks.

On "Chrome will not come back up", I'm assuming you have an effective backup. But Chrome itself has a backup if you logged their Google Account in - if that is the case - properly remove Chrome, reinstall it and login to your Google Account. This should restore the bookmarks, tabs etc that your parents like so much about Chrome.
If that doesn't work, go back to your primary backup or better yet and image backup if you have one.
Good Luck.

Chrome had some issues arise on both Windows and linux awhile back. Updating Chrome and libnss3-1d may fix it. It’s pretty easy to do.
PM sent. :)

I setup a windows pc for my aunt & uncle. My aunt is not interested in computers and my uncle sent 1 email with my help. Only 1.
He likes to actually talk to people and write letters on paper <- paper, imagine that.
