The other reality is - if McDonald’s is forced to pay a minimum of $15/hr, they will move toward more automation. Machines will ultimately be cheaper, they don’t take breaks, they don’t call in sick, and don’t talk back when asked to do something.

So - a few people will get paid more, the others will get paid nothing - and the cost for government subsistence for those not employable will go up

50 weeks is used just for ease of estimation. I should have stated that. Every $5 per hour is another $10,000 per year.

40 hours a day? that would equal 10,400 hours a year if this person only worked 5 days a week. At ten bucks and hour that person would gross $104,000 per year. Math was not this speakers strong point.

No wait, I think I got this figured out! There was that Democrat who said we sent astronauts to Mars; I bet they brought something back! And that other Democrat talked about all of 'em feeding at the trough, so I'm guessing the Martian crap must be edible, and make you able to work 40 hours a day! At that rate, you really can make $100,000 a year, so a lot more folks would vacation on Guam (our 57th State), which is why that other Democrat was worried about the island capsizing! And with all the burger-flippers paying taxes on six-figure incomes, we really would have enough money for the Democrat's New Green Deal!
