CENTER CITY (FOX 29) - Video shows Taco Bell employees in an altercation with a customer in Center City. The customer says the employees “snapped” when people complained of long wait times for food.

A week after he was beaten up buying tacos, Bryan Reese is speaking out about the incident caught on video the night of Feb. 24.

The 32-second clip shows workers wearing Taco Bell uniforms running outside the restaurant near 11th and Chestnut. The video shows Reese getting punched in the ribs while someone else is holding him down.

The customer says the employees “snapped” when people complained of long wait times for food.

"The entire store was filled with people—everybody was angry—wondering where their tacos were," Reese said.

He says his girlfriend and another couple along with other customers had been waiting for their order for 45 minutes.

“When the complaints came in. Somebody just snapped and they came after me," Reese explained.(snip)

"Three people jumped over the counter, I backed out of the store. They continued to follow me. They put me on the ground,” he said.

The video also shows his friend getting punched on the ground and he tells FOX 29 his girlfriend who wasn’t even in the store was knocked off her feet.(snip)

Taco Bell released the following statement:

“We’re shocked and disappointed to see this situation; we and our franchisees do not tolerate this behavior. The franchisee who owns and operates this location is retraining its staff, and all team members involved have been terminated.”

Reese is hoping for justice.

"The fact that people can just jump counters and beat up whoever they want—not today. You can’t do that that’s not right," he said.

Reese said Taco Bell has reached out to him and offered him a gift card.

“Reese said Taco Bell has reached out to him and offered him a gift card.”

And Reese’ attorney served Taco Bell and its franchisee with a multimillion dollar lawsuit in return! Sorta upping the “value” on that “gift card!”

Too bad Rodney Dangerfield isn’t still around. He could turn this into a joke about how tough his neighborhood is.

He says his girlfriend and another couple along with other customers had been waiting for their order for 45 minutes.

There was (or maybe still is) a Burger King in Rio Rancho, New Mexico that was like this. It was located off 528 just north of Obregon/Corrales Rd. It always took forever, even when the place wasn't busy. Makes you wonder just what was going on back in the kitchen.

Another reason NOT to eat "fast" food.

I think if I had to wait more than 10 minutes to even get to the counter I would have just split. Assess my real need to refuel and if I was still hungry to the point where I could not wait to eat I would have gone to a grocery store and picked up something to put on the stove.

The problem at many fast food restaurants is this:

1. Drive thru customers get first priority

2. Call in orders (grubhub) get top priority

3. Walk in customers get last priority.

This is the same at virtually every fast food restaurant.

As an experiment I went to a fast food restaurant and was told this. There was a long line. I called while in the store and placed my order. I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. I then went up 8 minutes later to pick-up, and they already had it for me. The throng was pissed. So I told them what I did. Immediately, people were calling in their orders, I just walked back to my car.

This can be avoided in several possible ways.

1. Separate personnel handle only drive thru, and help out when the drive thru is clear.
2. Separate personnel handle call in, and help out when there is not call in activity.
3. The lions share of personnel help walk-ins, there is no wait for other people.

If they do this, everyone gets served equally, with minimum wait times IMO.

The last time I complained about long wait times, was at a newly opened Taco Bell. But I did so from the safety of my car in the drive through line.
