opt-out, lol
Hay, I have a great bridge in NYC I would like to sell cheap, getting out of the business.
To: BenLurkin
As if they wouldn’t sell it to CODIS for the right price.

Beat me to it, although my wording was going to be: “Yeah, right.”

So the FBI just secretly gets the DNA instead of officially getting it.

I don’t believe it for a second. If the feds are looking for someone, they’re going to cull through all the data, guaranteed. The only difference will be when they go after a suspect whether they say the DNA match led them to the suspect or it was an “anonymous tip.”
To: BenLurkin
opting-out probably gets you top priority for matching to everything they have DNA for.
To: RedStateRocker
Of course.
If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to be afraid of, Comrade.

LOL, that works until the “data breach” ftom China...or Russia.
To: BenLurkin
I’d get good money that anyone who opts out gets red flagged and their DNA entered into the CODIS database immediately-on the suspicion that they have something to hide, of course...

opting-out probably gets you top priority for matching to everything they have DNA for. Every ancestor or living relative with a DNA sample would become prime targets if one took this option. It is like when a robo caller tells you to push 9 if you don't want any more robo calls.
