Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is urging support for the Muslim community following mass shootings at two New Zealand mosques on Friday that left at least 49 people dead and nearly 50 injured, saying that we must come together to “stand up for neighbors.” “This is a time of great vulnerability for our communities,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter. “We must come together, fight for each other, & stand up for neighbors. Isolation, dehumanizing stereotypes, hysterical conspiracy theories, & hatred ultimately lead to the anarchy of violence. We cannot stand for it.” In another social media post, the freshman congresswoman from New York urged people to “check in” and “perhaps extend a kind gesture at your local mosque.”

There is nothing wrong with this message.
We should be standing for victims of violence, no matter what their religion, and we should be condemning the actors of violence, and any reasons they may have given for doing so.
I don’t even know yet in whose name (or what cause) this was said to have been done in yet, but don’t we always ask the muslim community to step up on condem terrorism when it’s done in their name? Aren’t we implying that it’s tacit approval when they don’t?
My one beef would be, was OAC making similar statements when christians or jews were being attacked, or was she using them as a vehicle to attack the NRA or some other political angle?
But I for one will condemn an act of terrorism against a people for their religion.
This woman has to stick her nose into everything. Not if but when they kick her out of congress I’m sure that she will be working at the fake news network. She would be perfect for them. Except that they might not look too kindly at her stealing other people’s tips.
I remember after the Paris attacks, where Muslims slaughtered 130 innocent people, Obama called for gun control - because “these things don’t happen in other countries.”
Nor when Christians are slaughtered, do these virtue signalers call for support for the Christian communities.
