Her family moved from NYC when she was five.
Needs to be reported far and wide...but am dreaming, I know.
There are facebook and twitter platforms - both of which I don’t use but maybe others do.
Her claim makes no sense. This is, after all, NYC.

Her dad most assuredly spoke engrish, as he was born in the bronx as a 1st generation American and it would be u unlikely she was raised speaking anything other than American
I have friends with similar histories in California and they grew up speaking engrish but, understood Spanish secondarily
I am a simple white caveman. Her ways frighten and confuse me but, I swear by the beard Zues, my Spanish is better than hers...
What does this even mean?
It is absolutely clear what this means:
1. It means that AOC attended a school
2. That the teachers at that school thought that she should receive remedial education.
3. That the reason those teachers thought that was - because AOC is bilingual.
As the father of trilingual children, I can confirm that schools are very eager to sign up any multilingual child for "special education." That is because the schools often have a vested interest in doing so: They might have a federally-subsidized program for such special programs, and get lots of $$ for every child they enroll in them.
My own daughter - who is fluent in three languages and published, at age 17, a play in a foreign language for which she is actually receiving royalties (was performed again just last month a couple of hundred miles from here), and who was Valedictorian of her HS class - was likewise brow-beaten, admonished for speaking foreign languages on the playground, encouraged to sign up for "remedial" classes, etc., so I am qualified to state an opinion here.
That doesn't alter the fact that AOC is a pompous twit. Also, that she is probably engaging in race-baiting here.

I’m skeptical.
Yorktown Heights is the corporate headquarters for IBM.
It’s very expensive to live there, so I am instantly suspicious that a bank would issue a loan for a single family home based on a “group” down payment, or that her parents could afford the monthly payments on their own.
Second, the public schools in Yorktown Heights are as good as you can find in the USA.
I’ll speculate that 25% of the kids in her class were Asian or Jewish, which means that the other 75% of kids probably ALL needed “remedial education,” too!

Yes. Even if she did attend kindergarten or first grade in NYC there’s no way she’d be the only Hispanic in a Bronx public school or the only student who spoke Spanish or had poor English.

My son is bilingual. Can carry on a conversation with 2 people in two different languages at the same time (I’m sure your daughter is the same). No teacher ever suggested that he was stupid for being bilingual. I just think that AOC is just trying to make up an excuse to explain why even at an early age she was widely considered to be a dumbass.

I believe that’s probably a kernel of truth to her story. One or more teachers likely did, at some point, tell her that she needed remedial eduction. Heck, she’s an ignoramus who needs remedial education right now.
Both of those statements don't pass the smell test.
First, she doesn't look different than most folks...perhaps a little cuter than most.
Second, her teachers thought she needed remedial education because she was bi-lingual?

To begin with, it's a lie.
Consider NY OR NYC in 1995 or 6 (when she started school) ... we were WELL on our way to being taken over by any number of enemies and speaking Spanish was considered an asset.
The statement is designed to make America look bad and her look good.
That's all lefties EVER do.
She knows nothing and will say anything. This is not a good combination.
The first statement exposes her BS that she is a “girl from the Bronx” - a lot of girls would look like her if she’d gone to school there, but her family had already moved to a wealthy white area by then.
The second may well be true; I don’t know about her wealthy white area, but NYC itself was exposed years ago for forcing children into bilingual education programs if they spoke Spanish at home - even if the child spoke English. This was being done to bolster the number of “special-needs-type” children for additional funding, and driving up membership in the teachers’ unions. It was a disgrace but exposed in the media at the time.
Here in NJ we have a lot of “bilingual” teachers, and it is a scam that leaves those children poorly educated in any language. When I was younger those students would be educated with everyone else, suffering at first but catching up due to the English immersion. The latter program didn’t swell the union ranks, so it was tossed.
