A 17 year old is not a “boy” in the way that word is usually understood to mean a child. He is nearly an adult. Unless he is developmentally disabled giving the impression that he is a child is wrong. That man should not have been charged at all.
A 17 year old in Michigan is an adult, and appears in the District and Circuit Courts. My advice to the young man, tell the judge you will not appear in court if bonded out, and put the ball back in their court. What is the max? 90 days.
