An upstate New York man was busted for driving with a crudely drawn fake vehicle safety inspection sticker, prompting local authorities to mock the creation.
Cops spotted the phony red sticker when they pulled over 35-year-old Manuel Muniz on Monday morning in Amsterdam, NY, according to WRGB.
The sticker, which had the words New York State Safety Emissions Certificate, tried to mimic the real deal, with a hole-punched January 2020 expiration date and a bar code drawn in black marker.
Muniz was slapped with a violation for driving an unregistered vehicle.

LOL at least the background is the right color.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahaha! ! ! ! ! !
He probably figured it would look real from a sufficient distance.
Wow, he really phoned that one in...
Re: He probably figured it would look real from a sufficient distance.
Then IF that was indeed the case, he should have taken the time to write it more neatly.
I kind of get it though.
TAXES are too damn high !!!
Never let your 6 year old falsify your documents.
Stupid.
It is not that big a deal to get a smog check and register the car legally.
If one has worked has a LEO for any length of time home made plates and stickers are found on some what regular basic.

Poor guy. Obviously a US citizen. If he was an illegal - he would have gotten away scot free.
Are you kidding me?
First of all, you have to have car insurance. Then a safe vehicle with good tires and brakes. Then the 50 bucks or so to pass inspection. Then another $100 or so to get current plates.
Adds up to 500 600 bucks a year. Or more. So why should Muniz (and millions like him) bother? They don’t have they money. And even if they did....
I’ve been run into by people like Muniz. That’s why I carry uninsured motorists insurance. And 100K in personal injury protection.
Lots of cars out there wouldn’t be able to pass inspection, for various different reasons, including emissions. Often, they go to shop where they know a guy who just slaps a sticker on for a few extra bucks. Or they may only do an emissions test and not a full or any of the safety check.
So, "LOST STICKER" wouldn't work?
I thought there is a law that some old cars, before ? can be registered without having to pass a smog check.
That's what the corrupt hope you'll keep saying. Re-registering the same GD vehicle over and over and over and over and over is a colossal con-job. They make it simple for the suckers to keep paying up.
That is true. Can't recall the year either.
