Why the Hammer and Sickle Should Be Treated Like the Swastika
Foundation for Economic Education ^ | Nov 2018 | Richard Mason

Posted on 06/10/2019 5:14:52 PM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

If someone were to ask you to think of either extreme of the political spectrum, odds are you would immediately picture a swastika at one end and a hammer and sickle at the other. Regardless of your views on the left-right paradigm or whether or not you subscribe to horseshoe theory...

As such, many of us would also feel rather uneasy seeing those two symbols. Upon seeing a swastika, we are immediately reminded of the evils of the Nazi regime and are accordingly repulsed. To publicly display the logo is even a crime in many European countries. We understand how abhorrent the ideology is and treat it accordingly with disrespect and disgust.

But how do we react to the hammer and sickle? I don’t have to write an article explaining the millions of deaths that occurred at the hands of communist regimes...

Why do we treat two equally bloody ideologies in such starkly different ways?

"Real Communism Has Never Been Tried!" The answer may lie the in misperceptions of virtue. Nazis, rightfully, are seen as hateful and vicious because their ideology is built around the idea that one group is superior to the other. It is an inherently anti-egalitarian ideology, a violent belief that was put into practice only once by those who devised it.

As such, there is no justifiable way a fascist could argue ‘That wasn’t real Nazism.’ The same is not true for communism.

Any shortcomings, tragedies, or crises a communist regime faces can always be blamed on a misapplication of Marx’s infallible roadmap to utopia.

The communist ideology in its purest form might be separated from its implementations, but at what point does its awful track record discredit any attempts to advocate it?

For anyone familiar with history, that should be a no-brainer.

If someone were to ask you to think of either extreme of the political spectrum, odds are you would immediately picture a swastika at one end and a hammer and sickle at the other.

And you would be wrong. Nazism is only one of a plethora of leftist ideologies that have jockeyed each other for positions there at the left end of the spectrum.

What, in reality, is the "far right"? I would argue that it is the libertarians who believe that there is no place for government, that people left on their own will naturally regulate each others' behavior. This is not true, of course, but those who promote this ideology do not cause the deaths of millions as leftist ideologues often do.

Most Nazi war criminals escaped punishment by switching to Stalinism, protected by the Hammer and Sicle to keep doing politics.

The democrat party is another example of a criminal party which sought refuge in leftism

Nazis stole an ancient symbol and corrupted its meaning, much like modern liberals pervert language. There is also nothing wrong with hammers and sickles other than they were appropriated by murderous dictators as a symbol. Hammers and sickles are simply tools used by hard working people.

The Democrat Party, the perverts who run the so-called “entertainment” industry and the pinkos who run the so-called “news” media.

Will never go along with it.

Real communism has never been tried because real communism is voluntary. And no one is stupid enough to volunteer for it.

What about the homosexual “pride” flag? It’s everywhere, from every single sports channel on TV to brokerage home pages, pop-up ads, even US embassies.

As should the likeness of Mao, Che, Ho Chi Minh, etc., though you don’t see much of Ho anymore. Makes me sick how any person could idolize some of the most bloodthirsty murderers of history, while expressing revulsion for others, who were perhaps no worse in terms of the total number of victims, when we should feel revulsion for every single one of them. And these starry-eyed bastards always liberals, damned bloody hypocrits.

I just took a photo of a building in Thermopolis, Wyoming that had Swastikas on it. It was built in 1908.

"Real Communism Has Never Been Tried!"

Anyone who tries this argument with me would get the response:

Oh yes it has, over and over again!

Communism can only be implemented by the use of Brutal Force.

Only by force can you take people’s property. Only by force can you take a farm that has been in the hands of a family for generations.

Only by force can you make a person leave a home that he has worked years to build and pay for and move to a small apartment because his home is better suited to a large family than he alone.

Only by force can you make a doctor working in a large city hospital move to a small rural town because they need doctors.

Planed economies where all property is owned by the state are inherently authoritarian dictatorships that hold individual lives as worthless.

A person’s support for communism only last until they live it, it only last until they come for their stuff.

If someone were to ask you to think of either extreme of the political spectrum, odds are you would immediately picture a swastika at one end and a hammer and sickle at the other...nonsense - both stand for totalitarian domination over the lives of their subjects - to the point of murdering them if they fail to comply with what the state wants - but when you consider that those killed under communist regimes number about 60 million, and under Nazism maybe 20 million, it's reasonable to think that communism is much the more lethal of the two.......

Neighbors spent time in China. Brought back a Mao hat with a big red star as gifts for my children

I explained to the children that it was like the swastika and the hammer and sickle and it represented governments that killed a large amount of their people.

The hats landed in the trash.

My thought exactly. Where is something wrong with you when you start to fight symbols. Be it graphics or statues or something else. There is a book written on it.
