After President Donald Trump’s notice that there will be a wave of deportations for people who came into the United States illegally, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot responded. She said on June 21 that she will not cooperate with the ICE interventions, reported ABC15. “I have directed—and Superintendent Johnson has confirmed—that CPD has terminated ICE’s access to CPD’s databases related to federal immigration enforcement activities,” Lightfoot said in a statement, “I have also personally spoken with ICE leadership in Chicago and voiced my strong objection to any such raids. Further, I reiterated that CPD will not cooperate with or facilitate any ICE enforcement actions.”

When the GOP held congress (yeah, I know . . .) they should have passed a law that removed sovereign immunity from inferior jurisdictions (states, counties, cities) that instituted sanctuary policies such that any individuals or organizations materially harmed by illegals could sue those government entities for damages.
Great idea....would have stopped this nonsense immediately.
Cut off all US Government funds to Chicago. Federalize the Illinois Army National Guard and deploy them to the border indefinitely.
I think the trap is set for these obstructionist mayors. AG Bill Barr has set the trigger point and these mayors will find out what happens when they cross the line. Being handcuffed and in their underwear at 4AM will not be a pretty sight. The Dems will howl like demons when it happens, but America will see them for what they are. America still wants a nation of laws.
Why does Trump tolerate local and state insurrections like this? Why is federal money still flowing to these jurisdictions??????
