Bo played one more season for the California Angels. They offered him a multi-year contract worth $10 million but Bo decided to retire.
He had gotten married in 1987 and by 1995 had a family going. He said “I got to know my family and that was worth more than a $10 million dollar contract”.
Bo did get his Bachelors degree in Family and Child Development.
He lives in Chicago and is an Ambassador for the White Sox and oversees his own company, Bo Jackson’s Elite Sports that develops and trains young athletes.
Excellent point. Also, teams which are out of the pennant race will tend to lose some fire. Everyone individually is still trying to do his best, for his own interests. But there is an adrenaline rush that helps a player overachieve when he knows that the season is on the line and his teammates are depending on him.
