Migrants Won’t Solve Europe’s Demographic Problem
National Review ^ | July 2017 | Max Bloom

Posted on 09/15/2019 2:49:47 PM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

Europe is aging. Its fertility and mortality rates are decreasing as its life expectancies increase. In Germany, the median age is almost 47; in Italy, 45; in Austria and Greece, 44. By 2030, it is predicted that the share of Germans in the labor force will drop seven percentage points. By 2050, only 11.5 percent of Portugal’s population is projected to be under the age of 15, while 18.8 percent of Italy’s is to be older than 65.

It doesn’t take much number crunching to realize that these trends pose a very serious challenge to European society. As Europe ages, the costs of health care and pensions will increase dramatically while tax revenues decrease. The savings rate will decrease too, since retirees have little incentive to save, which means investment will lessen, potentially slowing the economy further. The effect could be a fiscal catastrophe.

So, when millions of migrants, disproportionately young and male, came knocking on the borders of Western Europe, many sensed an opportunity. Over time, according to the theory behind Angela Merkel’s decision to open Germany’s shores to these migrants, they would be integrated into German society, boosting the country’s shrinking labor force, contributing taxes to help alleviate the country’s looming revenue problem, and increasing the nation’s savings rate. The primary motivation for Merkel’s decision might have been humanitarian — many of the new arrivals were refugees from conflict in Iraq and Syria — but it was often claimed the move would ultimately revitalize the German economy, too.

Two years have now passed since the main flood of migrants in the summer of 2015 — not enough time to confidently analyze the long-term effect of migrants on the German economy, but enough time to make some preliminary inferences. And what data we have is not encouraging at all.

What you subsidize, you get more of. So why doesn’t Europe subsidize children? In other words, pay families to have more children.

Well, in the next few years there will be a large number of white South Africans who will be looking to move to a country where they won’t be killed.

Europe is so suffused with the suicidal decadence of Western Civilization that millions of Europeans can find nothing in their civilization worth passing on the future generations. They can't even find any reason--or any urge--to have future generations.

They have aborted, birth controlled, and homosexualized themselves into demographic oblivion, and millions of them can't muster the energy to resist--or even to reproduce.

Europe has been trying to commit suicide for centuries. Maybe now they'll succeed.

But it does, through welfare. Europe encourages Muslim immigrants to live on the dole and reproduce. And England does the same, although the immigrants come from the remnants of the British empire (e.g., Pakistan) rather than the Middle East.

And, we're not that different than the Europeans with our treatment of the indigenous and illegal alien lower classes, who often harbor anti-white and anti-patriotic sentiments. It's been that way ever since the Great Society legislation of LBJ.

Sure, there's been some ebb and flow, as when Clinton introduced workfare as part of his triangulation, but Obama eliminated that, practically with the stroke of a pen.

Oh, yeah, you’re right. I guess old Europe is just out of luck.

In a certain way, they have had it too good for too long. The survival instinct and national pride has been bred out of them.

In centuries past, war and pestilence served to keep things going as terrible as it is.

The so-called migrants in Europe cause more problems, including committing crimes, not help.

Hungary is smart, they refused to let in any of them.

As for children, Hungary is giving financial incentives for people there to have children. This is the smart thing to do, instead of letting in a bunch of evil savages.

“Migrants Won’t Solve Europe’s Demographic Problem”

Oh yes, they certainly will. Depends on how you look at it.

That's the pathophysiology of decadence, the fatal disease of civilizations: As a civilization reaches its zenith, its citizens become so comfortable, pampered, and secure that they lose the survival instinct and even pride. Internal moral and cultural rot sets in. The sick nation dies and falls.

In it's simplest form, it's shirtsleaves-to-shirtsleaves in three generations.

What needs to happen is subsidize ONLY the productive people into having children. Perhaps a steep tax reduction for each child, which would only be significant for the segment of the population which actually pays taxes.

But that would be denounced as racist.

My grandparents were born in Hungary, and I still have relatives there. And yes, Hungary is doing the right thing. But here’s my fear. Some day the conservatives will be voted out. It might be over some new tax law, or whatever. Then the Hungarian border fence will come down.

I see the same happening to Trump’s border wall, eventually.

Someone please convince me I’m wrong here.

Merkel was an idiot for thinking that opening her borders with promises of free money to any idiot that could hitch a ride there. Islam DOES NOT assimilate. Throughout history EVERY area conquered by Molsems had their culture replaced by Islam and sharia law.

They can't and won't revitalize the German economy........... they didn't and couldn't revitalize their own economy. They're not rocket scientists.

Revitalize the Germany economy????

99.99% are illiterate in German, have few to no skills.
And a majority of them are even illiterate in their native tongue!

How would that be possible?
