I loved my college thermodynamics class. The professor took on every possible miracle energy device; windmills, ground water cooling, solar panels, the 200 mpg carburetor...all of them. We worked the problems and even making conservative assumptions, none of them worked out as touted. As for the carburetor, engine friction, efficiency and the total mount of energy available in a gallon of gas were considered. Even running friction and other losses to zero the numbers didn’t work out. I don’t know how anyone today can push idiot solar panels or windmills as they simply don’t work.
