Now and then my wife and I need a reminder of reality to keep us in the right frame of mind considering how screwed up society really is. So we pull up Broadcastify and listen to the Chicago dispatch police feed on weekends, It never fails to bring it all back into perspective. So far three incidents of shots fired, an armed robbery, and a carjacking by two armed teens in the last half hour.
Wow.
And it’s slower than usual for a Sunday. It will pick up here in a bit.
Wait for the football games to end after a couple of cases of beer .... fireworks will start when the sun goes down.
Interesting. My aging parents have a police scanner in their home and they listen to it all day. Drives me crazy when I visit them.

We live rural, so it is easy to forget what is truly going on out there and quit caring. This brings it all back to why we do what we do.

This would depress the hell out of me. Why would you want to listen to the antics of Chicago teams? Why would you want to feed your mind with hour after hour of violence, gang activity and shootings?
I listened to about four minutes of it and tuned out.
Teams = teens.
Ha! I have an acquaintance who regularly listens to South Bend dispatch. He said that if he really wants to hear some action he tunes in to Chicago.
Thanks. I loved listening to the scanner , but here in my county we cannot anymore due to them getting 800MHZ which is coded. Do they not have ten codes and signals in Chicago?

I have to admit, I sometimes stay away from Free Republic simply because there are too many threads centered on teen activity and the antics of feral youth. I am not denying that this country, and hell holes like Chicago, are in deep and serious trouble. But unless we strike a balance, and unless we also focus on the good and positive sides of life, we are going to seriously mess ourselves up.
They do sometimes, but what I found is that they are much more vocal and share dialog due to all the crazy stuff going on. I like that they give the officers some idea what they are getting themselves into before they get there. And it makes it easier for us to keep track of what’s going on. Almost like listening to a ballgame.
Uh oh... They are now tracking the highjacked car and trying to intercept it, this might end in a chase.
This is zone 10... Districts 10 and 11. There are other districts including yours on their main Chicago search page. but this one is usually the busiest.

My mom used to listen to her scanner all the time. When she passed I put it in the cupboard and haven’t heard it since.
