While Sunnis ostensibly reject this practice, it is rising among Saudis and in Egypt.

There are a whole group of women in Mecca who perform that duty. A lot of men go on Haj alone and need a temporary marriage while they are there. Then they do the “I divorce thee” three times and it is over and they return home and can honestly say they did not commit adultery.
