Not against running, like the daily jog. But the extreme distances are crazy. Sure the pros can do it, they expect to get paid.. handsomely. But the average Joe? no.

My opinions were probably formed in the days of Jim Fixx, who died of running.

And my opinion of grape nuts and health food nuts, is of Euell Gibbons, who also died relatively young..

I was running a lot back then and eventually the body started breaking down. Shin splints, then doctor prescribed orthotics which never helped, then Chondromalacia patellae in the knee and ultimately lower back pain. I finally gave up running and kept drinking beer and smoking cigarettes. At age 69 I'm doing pretty damn well.......LOL!
