President Trump welcomes a Senate trial. Is this a good idea? Let's take a look at the current Republicans in the Senate and see which ones would vote to remove the President from office.
I would add Alexander, Rubio, Portman and Blunt to the list.

You are correct. Remember in 2010, the grassroots Tea Party gave the GOP control of the House. Did the GOP embrace the Tea Party and its agenda? No. Boehner and McConnell, and most GOP establishment members, distanced themselves from the Tea Party. In 2012 Romney made it clear he wanted no support from the Tea Party in his campaign for the White House. The mainstream media and Democrats were rabidly anti Tea Party.
The goal of the establishment was articulated by Barack Obama. It is to fundamentally change America. Eradication of the concepts of individual liberty, personal responsibility, freedom of expression, and limited government is the priority. Establishment Republicans and Democrats are equally believers of big government and control of the population. Centralized power and control are the weapons of tyranny. Those who live inside the beltway are all playing the power game.
I agree. Gardner is toast. I don’t even read his emails. To a large extent he did this to himself. But to be realistic, we’re outnumbered now.
Any republican voting for impeachment is akin to dropping a nuke on the people who vote republican. I would expect that much existential reflection on the matter would compel the wise to acquit and dismiss.
